Now Marcel Contier, French scientist, is said to have discov ered an extremely effective hair restorer. If I can get some of it I will try to have one of our bald-headed Milwaukee checkers-upper check on it. Inciden tally, all experts on the subject seem agreed baldness is heredi tary. Not long ago a Frenchman in Nice celebrated the one hun dred and fifteen anniversary of baldness in his family. Please Note People born under Sagitarius have a great talent for picking the winners of horse races. Or so say the stargazers. That is one of the statements of the star gazers that inspires me to keep an open mind on astrology. My girl friend was born under Sagitarivfs and the way she picks those longshots out of the air is uncanny. Why, sir, she picked "Michie" to win the Santa Anita Handicap! A few days before the race she said to Mrs. John Payson Adams, own er of that noble animal: "Your horse is going to win the Handi cap." Mrs. Adams was surprised at the statement and said: "Do you really think so?" My girl friend: "I certainly do." As you know "Michie" won, paying fifty-five to two to win. In Walter Marty's winter book "Michie" closed at forty to one! Title Holder The holder of the title of the "Oldest Bellboy in the U. S. A." must certainly be Frederick Derbes, of the Hotel Rienzi, Chi cago. Mr. Derbes, who was born in New Orleans, is 83 years old. He is extremely active and works a regular shift, six days a week from 6:30 a. m. to 3 p. m. Streamlining Recently conversed with a charming woman who took this department's mention of the query, "How are you going to look in a bathing suit," serious ly. : She has reduced twenty pounds and is now so well streamlined she figures to be one of the belles of the beach in the good old summertime. Asked her how she did it. She said it was easy. No starvation diet, no strenuous exercises She just consulted a doctor who told her what to eat and gave her a weight reduction prescrip tion. One-way Talker "She talks to you like you were a microphone. She talks to you- and doesn't want answers." That's what Humphrey Bogart said about Katherine Hepburn. Mr. Bogart apparently has a talent for description. Whether or not this particular description really fits Miss Hepburn I can- CincV bread) easiel America sf Cinetf corn ww easiest corn bread mix. What are the ages of the members of the old est regularly meeting golf four some you know of? I have heard of a golf foursome made up of men whose ages are 70, 82, 74 and 72. This foursome plays 18 holes twice a week. Smoking - A Philadelphian asks if I ever went for pipe smoking, I did. When a student at Public School No. 2 in the beautiful borough of Brooklyn, I tried smoking all kinds of pipes. That is, clay pipes,' corncob pipes, meers chaum pipes, briar pipes, etc. I never could get enthusiastic about pipe smoking. So when 14 years ago I gave up pipes and started smoking cigars. I have been a cigar smoker ever since. Name of the brand of the first cigar I smoked was George W. Childs. Maybe it was George M. Childs. Anyway I am certain about the Childs. After that I went for some little cigars called Telonettes. Then for that brand known as El Princepl de Gales. Now I smoke several different brands. But I like cigars made in Tampa, Fla., better than those, made in Havana. Asking Queries from clients. Q. Am I right in saying the Japanese and Chinese despise dogs, but are fond of cats? A. I think not, sir. The Japanese are fond of both dogs and cats. The Chinese are not especially fond of dogs, but like cats. It is a Chinese saying that "Those who hate cats were rats in their last reincarnation." Q. "When I said the word 'girl appears only once in the Bible, my husband, an irritatingly laconic conversationalist, said: 'Twice.' When I asked 'Where?' he said, 'Look it up. Will do you good.' I haven't the time. Help, please." A. The word "girl" appears only once, in the Bible. However, the plural, that is "girls" is also In the Bible. Anyway, you win the decision.
