" : Farmers have been sav ed billions of dollars through Farm Bureau ac tion on freight-rate adjust ment and legislation as suring fair trade practices on livestock markets and regulating grain exchanges. Farm Bureau has backed federal marketing agree ments and orders, assuring more orderly marketing of dairy products, fruits and vegetables. Farm Bureau helped design and pass the Research and Marketing Act as a means of expanding market ing research. Farmers' marketing and purchasing: asso-: ciations have been developed and are being developed with Farm Bureau assistance. All of these are bringing farmers and consumers the advantage of more efficient and less costly marketing. Farm Bureau has long fought for the development of new uses for farm products and the diversion of sur pluses to useful purposes. Farm Bureaus has consist ently supported a sound school lunch program. V Farm Bureau has consistently backed these meas ures, designed to promote international trade, world recovery and world peace: Reciprocal Trad Agree ments, Economic Co-Operation Administration, Atlan tic Charter. International Wheat Agreement, United Nations Charter, Food and Agricultural Organisation, International Monetary Fund and Bank. Farm Bureau has been unwavering in its support for the principle of parity in the market place. Its ac complishments in this field include: AAA of 1933, Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act (1936), second AAA (1938), legislation establishing and fos tering effective operation of the Commodity Credit Corporation. Steagall Act (1941), and the Agricultural Acts of 1948 and 1949. In addition, all major agricul tural credit legislation enacted in the last 30 years has received the aggressive support of Farm Bureau. More than 1,409,000 farm families, people who actually produce the food and fibre of America, speak for themselves through local, county and state Farm Bureaus, and the American Farm Bureau Federation. Farm Bureau policies are developed from the de sires of farm people as expressed through resolutions democratically adopted at local, county, state and na tional levels. They are developed on a non-partisan basis and supported on a bi-partisan basis. They rep resent the combined thinking of Farm Bureau members.
