MEMBER bWSnf I Wagner Creek Group To Purchase Piano; Committees Appointed Wagner Creek Forty mem bers of the Wagner Creek Com munity club met for a potluck dinner and business session Tuesday evening in the school house. J. C. Cox, Talent, and Dave Brabbin, Wagner Creek, provid ed music for square dancing and guests from outside the commun ity included Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Burns, Ashland. During the business meeting the group voted to purchase a piano for use of all community groups which meet in the school house. Also, they decided to pur chase a sewing machine for a newly formed sewing circle. A report of this unit was made by Mrs. Ed Hild and the following chairmen announced: Mrs. By ron Bushnell, sewing; Mrs. Her man Sommer, quilting; Mrs. Virgel Neuenschwander, pur chasing; Mrs. T. B. Blevins, wel fare contact; and Mrs. Ed Hild, coordinating and publicity. Mrs. Roscoe T a 1 b o 1 1 an nounced an enrollment of nine in the textile 'painting class, initial meetings to be held in the school house kitchen Tues day evening, March 4. Anyone wanting to join the group may contact Mrs. Talbott by phone. The second and fourth Satur days of each month were desig nated as youth night. The meeting place will be in the school and entertainment will include music, games and dan cing. A square dance class is being planned. Parents of the community will alternate as chaperones and all girls and boys from seventh grade through high school are invited. Monthly daytime parties are planned for the younger chil dren. While club membership is so licited it is not required for participation, in any of these activities. The next regular meeting date of the club is March 11. Elected Bob A. Stothers, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Stothers, was recently elected secretary of the Oregon Stage chapter of Delta Sigma Phi, national social fra ternity. He is a senior in mathe matics education at the college and is to graduate in 1953. Ashland Auxiliary Post Office Clerks Receives Charter The recently organized auxil iary to National Federation of Post Office Clerks of Ashland was presented with a charter Friday, February 22, at a south ern Oregon district meeting held at Smitty's Ranch House in Cen tral Point Preceding the presentation, auxiliaries from Grants Pass, Ashland, and Medford met with the clerks for opening cere monies. Attending the auxiliary meet ing were the following state of Oregon officers: Mrs. Webb Sau sen, - Corvallis, president; Mrs. Harel L. Buckridge, Eugene, first vice-president; Mrs. Clifford L. Jardine, Portland, second vice president, and editor of the ladies' magazine; Mrs. David R. Allred, Medford, fourth vice president. The state officers were presented with corsages which were made by Mrs. All red. Other representatives re ceived small flags. Also attending were Mrs. Ed ward Vincent, Central Point, member at large; Mrs. John El lis, Corvallis, auxiliary presi dent; Mrs. Edward ' Andes, Grants Pass, president of the the auxiliary which is two years old, and three, members; . Mrs. Lyle E. Massey, Ashland, auxil iary president and three mem bers, and Mrs. Lee Hubler, Med ford, auxiliary president and seven members. Mrs. Sausen installed the of ficers of the Ashland auxiliary and presented their charter. They are Mrs. Lyle E. Massey, president, Mrs. Lawrence Pow ell, vice-president, Mrs. Iven E. Olsen, secretary, and Mrs. A. Bert Freeman, treasurer. Brief talks were given by Webb Sausen, national state rep resentative; . Chris Christensen, Portland, national first vice president; Mrs. Buckridge, Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Andes, all of the Ashland officers, and Mrs. Sau sen, who spoke of the state con vention to be held in Portland June 27, 28 and 29. At the conclusion of the after noon meeting a dinner was serv ed by the Medford auxiliary. Table decorations were in the patriotic motif with red, white and blue candles, miniature hatchets and cherry trees. Hears Talk on Egypt Mrs. Russell Wade spoke to the Medford Toastmistress mem- Ders Monday evening on the j Egyptian viewpoint of the Anglo-Egyptian question and Mrs. L. E. Wilson discussed the his tory of Sudan. Mrs. Ben Staf ford explained the point-four plan and Mrs. Enid Cleek, a new member, gave her autobiogra phy. . Mrs. Gerald Morrisette was topic mistress and Mrs. Georgia White was meeting critic. The timekeeper was Mrs. Earl Moore. Speakers are to be judged for a coming district meeting. Mrs. Bernice Kunzman and Miss An na Streed tied for the early February meeting judging. The winner will be announced in March. The meeting was held at the Girls' community club. PJan Herb Luncheon Central Point Members of Central Point Garden club will hold an herb luncheon Wednes day, March 5, at the home'of Mss. John Holmer. For the luncheon each is to take table service and either a hot dish or salad containing herbs. Following the luncheon at noon, Mrs. John Hoist " of the Butte Falls Garden club will speak on "Herbs." Chapter To Mee Bow Bells chapter. Daughters of the British Empire, will meet Wednesday, March 8 at 8 p. m. in the Girls Community club. Members are asked to take soft cotton rags for a "rag" drive. Those needing transportation or have rags to be picked up, should call Mrs. G. W. Allingham, phone 2-8620. In Play Miss Arlene Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ar- ijiold, 1915 Stewart avenue, has been assigned the role of Lady Middleton in Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility." The play is being sponsored by the senior class of Los Angeles Pa cific college, according to an announcement from the school. To Meet Wednesday The Christian Women's Fel lowship of First Christian church will meet Wednesday, March S.
