flown From Abroad To Bo Topic Thursday Of Modford Gardeners Members of Medford Garden club will bear talk by Mis Amy Harding at a meeting Thurtday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at the Girls Community Club. Her subject will be "Flowers From Aboard." The Horticulture lesson on "Dogwood, Heroes of Spring," will be discussed by Mrs. W. Freeland. Mrs. John Litster's bird lesson will feature the rob in as "the bird of the month." Mrs. Tom Ginn, president, asks members to bring a "white elephant" pertaining to garden ing and wrapped as a gift. ACCOUNT BUY NOW PAY IN APRIL Providence Guild Receives Charter From The charter recently granted! to Providence guild of Sacred Heart hospital by the American Hospital association was unveil ed at a dinner party at Mon Desir last Tuesday evening. The event was attended by guild members and their guests. Mrs. James Dunlevy, guild president, pointed out that the type five charter awarded the local group is for hospitals of from 75 to 100 bed capacity, a classification that Sacred Heart hospital has held for the past forty years despite the growth of the community it serves. Dr. Reinhold Kanzler, presi dent of Jackson County Medi cal society, congratulated guild members for their "splendid Tumblers $495 BARGAIN TABLE ALL OCCASIONS ft Shop Association progress" and pledged the as sistance of the medical society for future plans. Dr. Oscar Halboth, chief of the medical staff at Sacred Heart hospital, pointed out that despite the scientific knowl edge of the medical profession, doctors still had to have mod em hospital facilities in which to carry on their work. The Rev. George R. V. Bol ster, representing Community hospital, expressed, the hope that an auxiliary or guild would soon be established to .work with the staff of that hospital and to join forces with Provi dence guild members for greater service to both institutions. Acting-Mayor Paul Selby, speaking on behalf of the city of Medford, expressed his appreci ation for the "fine work" the guild has already accomplished with only a small membership and suggested that with such worthy projects planned for the future, tiie guild's membership, which is non-sectarian and non denominational, should advance to at least a membership of 2,000 local women. . Three Extension Units To Meet This Week; Agent To Be Speaker C. B. Cordy, county extension agent in horticulture, will talk about "Home Gardens" at the March meeting of the Medford Parents Extension unit. The meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Heme Hertager, 47 North Orange street, at 7:30 p. m., Tues day. March 4. Hostesses for the evening are Mrs. H. W. Gifford, Mrs. A. A. Zundell, and Mrs. L. A. Ballance Mrs. Lyle Heidelmann, chairman of the unit will preside. The unit invites anyone who is interested to attend the meeting. Lake Creek "Home Gardens" will be subject of the Lake Creek Extension unit meeting at 10:30 al m., March 3. Mrs. John David son of Brownsboro will be hos tess at her home. C. B. Cordy will be in charge of the lesson. . Those attending are asked to wear "something green" for the St. Patrick day theme. Table service is required. Anyone interested in home ex tension is invited. Reese Creek Mrs. Earl Wood, Butte Falls route, near Reese Creek mission, will be hostess in her home to Reese Creek unit members Tuesday, March 4, at 10:30 a. m. The secretary point ed out that this is a change of meeting place since the meeting was scheduled . in the Wright home and the Wright family is moving. . Women interested are invit ed to attend. The leader will be Miss D. Eula Wintermote and the day's lesosn will concern "Kitchen Storage." Lady Elks ' Lady Elks will meet Tuesday, March 4 in the party lounge at the Elks temple. Js ss ss Open House Marks 50th Anniversary Of Provolt Couple Provolt An open house at their ranch home near Provolt, observed the 50th wedding an niversary of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. HilL The couple has lived in this area since 1907. - Plans for the open house were made bv Mrs. . Lester Hill a daughter-in-law. Among those at tending the observance were the couple's three children, Lester Hill, Provolt; Roy HilL Keno, and their daughter, Mrs.- Harry Treloar, Butte, Mont. The couple has eight grandchildren. -Spring flowers with ivy deco rated the rooms. For the event Mrs. Hill wore a ereen nrint dress and her corsage was of yellow rosebuds. The couple was married Feb. 19. 1902 at Baker and later thev moved to Marysville, Calif. In ivu7 xney purchased the ranch near Provolt which since has been enlarged to 200 acres, with aDoux vu acres sow under irri gation. . The courts was the first to operate the Provolt telephone exenange and both have taken active interest in the Annlont Grange. She has held various offices in the home extension unit. Mrs. Hill was Louvella Near before her marriage. ' MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNfc Sunday, March S. 1932 Eagle Point PTA Observes Founding At Last Meeting Eagle Point Founders' day candle-lighting ceremony and silver tea highlighted the Feb ruary 26 meeting of Eagle Point Parent-Teacher association. The candle-lighting ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Walter Young, who gave a short history of the organization from the early founders to the. founding of the Eagle Point chapter. Mrs. Young cited legislative improve ments gained locally through the organization including free text books and the school lunch pro gram. Preceding the business meet ing, a musical program was pre sented by students of Steven Whipple. A saxophone solo was given by Carol Ann Clark fol lowed by a selection on the sousaphone by Barbara Jackson. The girls' trio, Juanita Ragsdale, Marilee Scott and Ann Sanford. sang. Reports were made concern ing the dinner which PTA wom en prepared for the Lions club charter meeting February 23. All those participating in the planning and preparation of the dinner were thanked by the president, Mrs. Bertland Stan ley. Thanks was extended girls of the high school who, under the direction of Mrs. Don Green, served the large crowd which at tended the dinner. Mrs. Barrow's room won the room count at this afternoon meeting. Mrs. A. R.
