Society and Clubs Faculty Member Talks at Meeting Of DAR Chapter i ; Dr. and Mrs. Arthur J Taylor, Miss Sonya Peterson and Miss Ann Hart, were guests of the Crater Lake Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Feb ruary 23. The group met m the home of Mrs. Glenn O. Taylor 'and luncheon was served by Mrs. Stanley Chirgwin, Mrs. J. H. Young and Mrs. Jesse C. Long, assisted by Mrs. Taylor. -Dr. Taylor, an instructor at Southern Oregon college, spoke on builders of southern Oregon, the needs and problems of the early settlers, their trials and pleasures. Miss Peterson played a program of piano selections. 'Miss Hart, a Medford high school senior, is the school's "good citi zenship pilgrim." Each year the national society of the DAR spon sors the good citizenship project. ; Later in the spring, the good citizenship pilgrim for Oregon will be selected at a meeting in '. Salem. . . Announces Meeting . " Ladies' Missionary union of ) Medford Friends' church will ; meet in the home of Mrs. Jim : Smith, Central Point, Thursday, ' February 28. Roosevelt school will present the fifth and sixth grade chorus in an operetta "Thirty Minutes with Stephen Foster" by H. L. Bland, tomorrow evening. The production, beginning at 7:43 p.m. will be held In the Roose velt gymnasium. The scenes take place in the Foster home about the year 1850. The townspeople, together with Stephen's family and close friends, have gathered to wel come Stephen home from his travels. The happy occasion calls for the singing of many Stephen Foster favorite:. And along with the singing goes a lively square dance to the tune of Foster's "Nellie Bly." All the songs in thtj musical sketch have been more widely sung than any written in any language. Foster melodies by the 100-voice Roosevelt chorus, at tractive stage setting and pretty costumes promise an entertain ing evening those in charge state. Tickets may be purchased from any Roosevelt chorus mem ber, or at the school tomorrow night before the performance. .. Plans Completed For Benefit Event Plans have been completed for the smorgasbord dinner and square dance to be held at the Griffin Creek school Saturday evening, according to Mrs. My ron Johnston, chairman of the benefit affair. The dinner is to feature both American and Swedish dishes and will be served between 6:30 and 9:30. Square dancing is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Price of the dinner includes square dancing or those who wish to watch the dancing and those unable to attend the dinner will be charged a nominal fee for the dance only. . Horticulturist Talks For Sams Valley Unit Sams Valley Extension unit met February 19 at the home of Mrs. Harry Musson. Speaker for the day was C. B. Cordy, county horticulturist, who talked on "Home Gardens." Mrs. A. Couts was a guest next meeting ot the group will be March 18 at the home of Mrs. Gus Koellner. Miss D. Prospect Auxiliary Makes Project Plans Prospect Auxiliary of the Prospect Lions club met at Berkie's cafe for Its regular monthly session February 13. The business meeting at 6 p.m. was conducted by the president, Mrs. Roscoe Larson. It was de cided the group should have 8 project and it was voted to make the current one that of installing a hot water beater in the Com munity club. It was decided tf ask other organtxatlons tn the community to give some assist ance. Mrs. William Shulz and Mrs. Lawrence Sanderson were appointed to take charge of in vestigating details. Following the meeting, the group attended the Lion's club basketball game, and acted as 8 cheering section. Cher r leaders were Mrs. James Popp and Mrs. Robert Lund. Prospect Unit Hears Talk On Home Gardens ProspectProspect Home Ex tension met at the Community club February 13. Morning session was devoted to a business meeting conducted by the president.
