The nraiect to nrovide the electri cally operated device for the senior high stadium as a mem orial to the late A. Z. (Tubby) - Dean is very much alive. Plans for an event to raise funds for the board vere an nounced yesterday at a meeting of Legion, radio and newspaper. HOOP FRAY PLANNED Legionnaires are now work ing out details for a gala eve ning of basketball, both com edy and straight, to be pre tented at the senior high gym. Date is yet to be announced. In the main game, as proposed, seniors on the Medford high basketball squad will meet youths who will form the squad of next season. A preliminary fracas among merchants is scheduled and Legionnaires believe this vent will prove a hilarious af fair. Comedy stunts are con lemplated at intermission times. Legionnaires say they feel that this program of sports is in line with the type of ac tivity Dean, one of Medford's greatest sports boosters, would have enjoyed. SIGNATURE BOOK In connection with the project a loose leaf book is being consid ered in which all who buy tickets to the game, and thereby con tribute to the Tubby Dean mem orial scoreboard fund, will have their signatures and comments concerning Dean. The book will be sealed in the scoreboard cornerstone. At a memorial serv ice at the fund-raising game the book will be placed in a strong box. Persons throughout the area will be given an opportunity to purchase tickets. Friends of Dean throughout the valley are par ticularly requested to partici pate. The Wildcats, picked by the coaches before the start of the campaign as the best bet for the national title, closed out their regular season Saturday with 24-2 record and 18 straight vic tories. Coach Adolph Rupps men, who already have won a berth in the NCAA tournament, begin play in the Southeastern Confer ence tourney Wednesday night, With only two more weekly rat ings to go, the Wildcats are in a good position to clinch the na tional crown by coming through on schedule in their conference tournament.
