Gold Hill was graduated June 16 from the air university's air war col lege at Maxwell air force base in Alabama. Boy Scout Itinerary To Jamboree Given The Boy scout office here today issued an itinerary which 71 Rogue valley boys will fol low en route to Valley F)i gePa. for the national jamboree, and return. The boyi left here at 7:38 p.m. Monday, and yesterday arrived in Eugene, where they pitched st "model camp" and their special cars were hooked to the special train which will take them east. Yesterday even ing they arrived In Salem, taking on more boys. Couple Ordained In Ceremony at Christian Church Mr. and Mrs. Delbert V. Trox ell were formally ordained into the Christian ministry Sunday evening in the First Christian church here. The Rev. Holly Roy Jarvis, pastor, was the pre siding minister, Mr. Jarvis was assisted in the candlelight ceremony by Pro fessor Ward A. Rice of North west Christian college at Eugene, who delivered the charge to the candidates; Dr. Ross J. uriffeth, president of the college, who delivered the dedicatory prayer, and Messers. Vern Bailey, Ralph Cook, Allen Curry, A. J. Hanby, and C. M. Hon, who served as presiding elders. The Rev. Wm. J. Piper, minister of the First Christian church In Grants Pass pronounced the benediction. The pulpit was in the form of a cross, with a specially arranged Bible pulpit. Reception Follows A reception followed the cere mony in the Fellowship hall of the church, sponsored by the Women's Christian fellowship. Mrs. E. Ronald Rice and Mrs. Frank Heller served as cochair men. During the reception the new ly ordained couple were pre sented with a piece of luggage by the local congregation. The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Troxell have already been accepted as missionary candidates by the United Christian Missionary so ciety of the brotherhood, and will leave soon for additional training in the graduate school of religion at Butler university in Indianapolis. Mrs. Troxell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hen dricks, missionaries to Japan with the brotherhood. Mr. Trox ell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Troxell, 1833 South Peach street. Medford. Hoover Asks Boost In FBI Manpower Washington, June 21. (U.R) FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover told congress today that he needs more manpower to combat in creasingly tricky subversives anl prevent a security "breakdown." But he warned against "sup pression and outlawing." In the FBI section of the jus tice department's annual report to the house and senate, Hoover said. "The increasing stealth and de ceit employed by subversives make the work of the FBI in creasingly difficult and require more manpower and ingenuity to secure the information which will prevent a breakdown of our domestic security." A man wrote me he believed he had the only shoe shop in New York catering exclusively to women with very small feet. He added he believed there was only one other similar shop in the coun try and that was in San Fran cisco. I reported the claim with the idea of revealing the scarc ity of our countrywomen with small feet. And so what happened? Hun dreds of womn with tiny tootsies wrote in asking me whore the shop for small-footed women was. I have misplaced the ad dress. Will the small shoe spe cialist please send his address again? If I don't get it I am cer tainly going to be in the dog house insofar as a great number of cute little tricks are con cerned. Asking Queries from clients. Q. When I referred to the actress of the yesteryear, Gertrude Vander bilt, my wife said there never was an actress of that name. Did I imagine it? A. Your wife must be very young or have led a se cluded life. Gertie Vanderbilt was one ot the best known vaudeville actresses of her time. She used to sing a ditty titled "I'm the Only Vanderbilt in Vaudeville." Q. You men tion Gus Edwards' song revue In which George Jesscl, Georgic Price, Walter Winchell and Liln Lee appeared when kids. How long ago was that act produced? A. Am Informed by none other than Mrs. Gus Edwards that the act in question plaved Hammer stein's Victoria Music Hall 40 years ago, In 1910. Horses and Women A Califnrnian who slates he is "a checker-up on Horses & Women items" reports: "I check ed extensively with a number of male doctors as to whether women physicians usually make good wives. The doctors all said: 'No.' And I might add in a most emphatic manner." Mules & Men "Le Psychologie des Garcons pour 1' Instruction des Filles." That is the title of a book by a French psychologist named Ed ward Montier. The title trans lated means: "The Psychology of Young Men for the Instruction of Young Women." In this book Monsieur Montier states among other things: "A young woman supposes a young man is com plicated like herself the young man supposes the young woman is simple like himself. ' He ex presses the view that as soon as a young woman realizes the av erage young fellow is a simple trusting soul who is no match for the wiles of the average young woman she will have no difficulty in successfully han dling the male of the species. Patron Saints The pope recently named St. Michael' as the patron saint of policemen. Am informed that some years ago Chicago police men made St. Jude their patron saint and formed the League of St. Jude. Whether or not the name of the League of St. Jude will be changed to the League of St. Michael remains to be seen. This reminds me I have been asked "Who is the patron saint of the working girl?" The ques tion has me baffled. I am a little weak on patron saints. All I know is that St. Christopher is the patron saint of spinsters. Please Note Some Hollywoodians are of fering odds of ten to one the Rossellini - Bergman marriage will not last long. I have no ideas on that subject. However, I do know it often happens that matrimonial alliances which a great many people say "won't last long " turn out happily. On the other hand, many couples said to be "ideally mated" end up In the divorce courts'. I wouldn't wager any money on the outcome of any marriage. I would rather risk it on steeple chase races.
