: " SIX MEDFORD (OHEQON) Beadnell-Barnwell Rites Held at Catholic Church The wedding of Mis Beverly Elaine Barnwell, daughter of Mrs. William James Barnwell, 331 South Ivy street, to Robert Wayne Beadnell, son of Samuel Beadnell of Westwood, Cal., took place Saturday, June 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. C. J. Linehan officiated at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony. Two hundred guests attended the service, read in a setting ot coral and white gladioli arranged with palms and ferns. Bruno Pellegrini was organ ist. The bride, given in marriage by her grandfather. Joseph J. Brent from Portland, was gown ed in white slipper satin, made en train and wun inscruu... y. lace and her fingertip length veil of matching lace fell from a tiara of seed pearls. Her bouquet was of bouvardia and white orchids. Mrs. G. B. Logan, sister of the bride from Red Bluff, Cal., was matron-of-rionor. one wuie taffeta and carried a cascade of Dink Esther Reed daisies and pink' orchids. Her headdress was of pink flowers. Bridesmaids were Miss Bonnie Bell Barnwell and Luanne Barnwell, sisters of the bride; Miss Aileen Tamny and Mrs. Edward Young, all of Medford. They wore matching -, 44 S. She wore yellow organdy and lace with a halo of daisies and carried a basket of rose petals. Best man was Earl Beadnell, brother of the bridegroom from Westwood, and ushers were Messrs Marvin Getling, Haskell Stormer Jr., John Ceaglio. Ber nard Logan and Edward Young. About 100 guests attended the reception, held in the Pioneer room of the Jackson hotel imme diately following the ceremony. The room was decorated with a profusion of colorful flowers, and white gardenias graced the refreshment tables. Mesdames M. C. Gleason, Edgar Link, John DeLapp, Charles Ward and Christopher Wciskamp presided at the coffee table and the wedding cake was cut by Mrs. John Ceaglio and Mrs. Van Allen, sisters of the bridegroom. Mrs. Oscar Water man took charge of the guest book, and Mrs. C. J. Logan served punch. Miss Bonnie Belle Barnwell sang, accompanied by Mrs. J. J. Brent and Mrs. Brent provided music for dancing. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Brent, grand parents of the bride, and Earl Brent, her uncle, all of Port land; Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Logan, Mrs. C. J. Logan, and Mrs. John DeLanp and daughter, all of Red Bluff. Mr. and Mrs. L. Van Allen and daughter. Portola. Cal.. Mr. and Mrs. John Ceaglio and Earl ! Beadnell of Westwood; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Waterman and Mr. and Mrs. H. Mitchell of Grants Pass. The bride is a graduate of Mis soula Mont., high school, and has been employed by the local telephone company. The bride's goingaway cos tume was a white suit worn with pink accessories. Their honey moon will take the couple to the southwest, including the Grand Canyon In Arizona. They will make their home In Medford. (Shangle photo) Travelers Return From Motor Trip Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Robert son, 806 West Main street, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Willford, Ideal court, have returned after a 3000-mile motor trip to Wash ington state. Canada and Idaho. In Seattle they visited Miss Virginia Ridgeway, former val ley resident now taking post graduate work In nursing train ing at the university of Wash ington. On their trip through Canada they toured British Columbia and Alberta provinces, stopping at Lake Louise. Banff and Calgary. They made the return trip through Idaho. 'V' 1 Howard Extension Unit Installs New Officers Howard Extension unit held the last meeting of the season recently at the home of Mrs. Albert Stock, Old Pacific high way. Installation of officers was held, with Mrs. G. W. McBee acting as installing officer. Tak ing office were Mrs. Aura Kay, Central Point, chairman; Mrs N. F. Gier, vice-chairman; Mrs Robert Ottoman, secretary and Mrs. William H. Straus, treas urer. Retiring ofifcers were Mrs. Ernest Rogers, Mrs. G. G. Stags and Mrs. Stock. Mrs. Kay gave a talk on can cer control, assisted bv Mrs. J. R. Campbell. Refreshments followed the meeting, and the group then ad journed with the next meeting to be in the fall. Local Speakers' Club Elects New Officers; Mrs. Runtz Heads Group Mrs. Frank Runtz was named president of Medford Toastmis- tress club at a meeting Monday evening held in the Scout House. She will succeed Mrs. jviarjone Hopkins. Mrs. Bernice Kunzman. was elected vice-president; Mrs. Ver non Thorpe, secretary, and Mrs. Scott V. Davis, treasurer. In stallation of officers will be held June 26 at Mrs. Hopkins' home on Crater Lake highway, with the ceremony to be preceded by a picnic dinner. In addition to the officers elected Monday. Mrs. W. F. Roney will be in stalled club representative. Mrs. George Mclntyre was named delegate to the conven tion of International Toastmis tress to be held in Pasadena, Cat., later this month, theme for the evening, and Mrs. Spring housecleaning was the Georgia White acted as toast mistress. Mrs. Thorpe spoke on plastics and told of the new uses to which plastics have been adapted. Mrs. Runtz told of the history and manufacture of wall paper and Mrs. C. A. Thatcher spoke of some of the newer housecleaning aids. Mrs. Bren H. Starcher report ed on a meeting of club repre sentatives held recently to dis cuss the "children's bill," a ref erendum which will be on the general election ballot in the fall and which provides for an ad ditional levy by the state to raise the basic school fund from $50 to S80 per year per child. Mrs. Davis acted as topic mis tress, having the club members plan a mythical house for a mythical family. Mrs. Una B. Inch was guest critic and Miss Abby Sturtevant was meeting critic. Eagles' Auxiliary Elects Officers Mrs. Paul Terry was recently elected president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Pythian Sisters Plan Initiation Ceremonies Initiation ceremonies will be held by Pythian Sisters Tuesday, June 20 in the lodge hall. The evening will begin with a pot luck dinner served at 6:30 p. m., to be followed by a business meeting and the initiation. Mis Autry has been active as a member and officer of Mu Phi Epsilon sorority, a national professional music sorority. Be fore transferring to San Jose, the graduate attended Southern Oregon college. She is a 1946 graduate of Medford high school and formerly lived at 844 Da kota avenue, Medford. Grove Garden Club Meeting on Tuesday Miss Claire Hanley will speak on tuberous begonias at a meet ing of Grove Garden club Tues day, June 20, at 8 p.m. In the Oak Grove school house. Miss Hanley, who has served as con servation chairman of the Ore gon Federation of Garden clubs this past year, was elected vice president of the federation at the annual meeting held in Klamath Falls last week. Mrs. Kenneth Farley, program chairman, will conduct a round table discussion and question and answer period pertaining to current gardening problems. Anyone interested is invited to participate in the discussion. Medford School Eva Is Known for Her and Balanced, Level - Date Miss Marjorie Ryan Honored at Shower; Announce Wedding Day A bridal shower in the form of a surprise, honoring Miss Marjorie Ryan, bride elect of Drape Walch, was given in the home of Mrs. Lorene Braziel, 414 West Jackson street Tues day evening. Hostesses were Mrs. Braziel and Mrs. Albert Schmidt. Gifts at the miscellaneous shower included a pressure cooker given to the bride elect by fellow employees at the Big Y Market fountain. Games were played and refreshments were served by the hostesses and Mrs. Oscar Landry. Couple From Illinois Visits Relatives Here Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schwartz of Roselle. 111., arrived this week to visit three weeks here with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Skala. 1750 Orchard Home court. Mrs. Schwartz is Mr. Skala's sister. The couple made the trip at this time so that the four could observe their wedding anniver saries together. The Schwartz' anniversary was June 16 and the Skala's. will be June 20. A dinner at the Skala home, with relatives attending, has been planned for Friday, June 23, in observance of the events.
