(Bralnerd photo) Medford Couple Married In Methodist Ceremony One of June's large weddings was that of Miss Maxine Louise Blass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Blnss, 410 Lozier lane, to Arthur Charles Bostock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bostock, 1260 North Pacific highway. The couple repeated their marriage vows on Sunday, June 11, with the ceremony held at the First Metho dist church at four o'clock in the afternoon. About 200 guests were present. The Rev. Meredith A. Groves officiated, and Mr. Blass gave his daughter in marriage. Dr. G. A. Dierdorff was soloist, and Mrs. C. R. Adamson accompanied him and played the wedding marches. She also soiuy piayea "The Lord's Prayer" throughout the ceremony. The bride's gown was of all- over lace, princess design, ana the bustle skirt fell into a long train. Her veil of imported illu sion was held by a coronet oi pearls and rhinestones and she wore long lace muis. uimo, bouquet was of white ophelia rnp and steDhanotis. Mrs. Ray J. Harris Jr. was matron-of-honor. She wore a frock of nile green marquisette fnshioned with bertha of match ing lace in off-snouicier eucci and her halo hat and mitts were of white. Her mixed bouquet was of pink rosebuds, while hya intl ami rielnhinium. Rririeamaids were Miss Irma Bostock, sister of the bride groom, Mrs. VVilmer W. Robert son and Mrs. Al Bradford. Their gowns of aquamarine, maize aim orchid marquisette matched that wnrn hv the matron-of-honor and they aiso wore matching mitts and halo nais. ah inrpe mm bouquets of pastel colored spring blossoms. Wilmer Robertson of Medford was best man and ushers were Fred Stnmmen, Jack Illusion and Pnrroll Keasev. Thirty-five white tapers In can delabra formed a background for nine bnskets of flowers, and ferns stood at either end of the arch of candles. The pew ends were decorated with wnue sann ribbons holding calla lilies and sweet peas and a white carpet covered the church aisle. A reception for the couple fol lowed in the chnhch parlors. The flreplnre was flunked with bas kets of flowers, roses and green ery banked the mantle and other arrangements of flowers wore about the rooms. Mrs. Louise Bates, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake as sisted bv Mrs. Jack Huston, and Miss Grace Andrews poured. Mu sic for the reception was pro vided bv Miss Lailene Thompson and Mrs. Fred Stammen took chnrgc of the guest book. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Blass wore a gown of aqua marine colored lace with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother wore rose crepe with white accessories. Their corsages were of white carnations and pink rosebuds. Mr. Bostock and his bride traveled to southern California for their honevmoon. and will live in Medford. Both attended Medford high school, and the bride later was a student at Se attle Parific college. For travel ing the bride wore a suit of ptnk mauve with navy blue acces sories and her corsage was of white roses. Among the wedding guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Luke, uncle and aunt of the bride from Eugene. Presbyterian Women To Picnic In Church The picnic of the Women's Asosclatinn of the Presbyterian church. Tuesday at 1 p.m.. will be held In the church Instead of on the Elliott farm as orgl nally scheduled. i Republican Women Making Last Plans For Luncheon-Show Jackson County Republican Women are completing plans this week for a Gay Nineties style show and luncheon to be held Friday at the Rogue Valley Country club. Luncheon is set for 1 p. m. Reservations have been re ceived from women from all parts of the valley, regardless of political affiliations since this is a social rather than a political event, but a number of party leaders are also expected to at tend. Sigfrid Unander. Portland. chairman of the slate central committee, and Mrs. Unander are expected, as are Mrs. 11. D. Peterson, vice-chairman from The Dalles, Mrs. Marshall E. Cornell, Klumath Falls, national committeewoman who will bring greeungs xrorn oovernor uoug las McKay, and Mrs. George T, Gciiingcr, Portland, past nation, al committee woman. Committee members are col lecting representative gowns and fashion accessories from style periods of the past for the fash ion show, and a hat contest is to be one of the features of the program. All guests are invited to enter, but those who prefer may wear their customary head coverings. A committee of men will be Judges. Mrs. Peterson has promised to bring a 75-year-okf dress to show. Visitors Leave Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cimino of Los Angeles left Friday morning for their home after spending several days In Med ford as guests of Mr. and Mrs. James II. Daily. B.10 East Ninth street. Mrs. Cimino and Mrs. Daily were girlhood friends. and Mrs. Cimino traveled to Medford to sing for the wedding of the Daily's daughter, Bev erly, to Edwin Clark, held Mon day night at the First Presby terian church. Countess of Mayo Guest in Medford Of Wilcox Family Among the Interesting guests recently entertained in Medtora were Dr. Ruby L. Hoffman of San Francisco, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore of the same city and the Countess of Mayo from Edin burgh, Scotland. The three were guests of Mr. and Mrs. U. A. Wil cox. 2335 Stewart avenue. Dr. Hoffman is a sister of Mr. Wil cox, and Mrs. Moore ii his mother. The countess had been a guest of Dr. Hoffman for six weeks, having come to this continent to lecture and teach while touring the United States and Canada. Dr. Hoffman and the countess left Tuesday for Vancouver, B. C. where the countess will visit her brother, and Mrs. Moore remained in Medford with her son and his family. Monday evening a group of friends and neighbors gathered at the Wilcox home to meet the visitors. Dr. Hoffman showed pictures taken at Lake Geneva. Wise, and the countess showed pictures of Mayo castle and re counted some of the legends and stories which are told about the castle. Service League Annual Carnival Set For Saturday Junior Service league mem bers have planned the second annual summer carnival for Sat urday. June 24. at the Rogue Valley Country club. This is one of the league's major fund raising activities of the year. It is olanned to coincide with the appearance at the club of the famous JJuncan sister, oi "Topsy and Eva" fame. The sisters are scheduled to appear twice nightly June 23, 24 and 25. In addition to the entertain ment provided by the Duncans, the league has planned the usual carnival attractions and numerous booths and conces sions will be operated by the members and their husbands. Vivian and Rosetta Duncan, headliners on the American stage for many years, run a the atrical school in uurungame, Cal.. and also makes appear ances, sometimes with their pu pils, in Pacific coast cities. Art Students Wed At Recent Service In Boise Church Medford friends will be in terested in news of the mar riage of Miss Betty Mae Eas ley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Easley, to Don Mitch ell Chavls. a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Chavls, 509 Oak street, Medford. The ceremony took Dlace the evening of May 26, in First Church of the Naz- arene, Boice, Ida. The Rev. E. n. Edwards read the rites. The bride's wedding suit Was of Arabian blush gabardine with which she wore pastel yellow accessories. Her corsage was of purple-throated orchids. Attending the bride was Miss Louella Jean Chavis. sister of the bridegroom. The bride groom's attendant was Alf Ottls Petterson of Medford. The bride is a graduate of Beacon high school. Beacon, N. Y. She has attended Olivet School of Music. Kankakee, 111., and Findlay college. She has been majoring in art at North west college, Nampa, Ida., dur ing this past school term. The bridegroom served two years In the armed forces and has been majoring in commercial art at Northwest college. He attend ed Medford high school. The newly wedded couple will make their home in Nampa. Ida., where Mr. Chavis is employed with United Advertising agency Relatives Attend Golden Wedding Relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stillwell, formerly of this city and now of Oroville, Cal., were in Oroville Sunday. June 11, to attend the golden wedding an niversary celebration of the cou ple, Attending from the valley were Ed Stillwell. a son of the rnuple, Mrs. Stillwell and Mrs. Mildred O'Brien of Phoenix, a daughter. Also present for the celebration were another daugh ter. Mrs. H. R. Bingham of Boise, Ida. and another son. Joke Still well of Stockton. Cal.. as well as three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. This was the first time in 20 years that all members of the family had been together. Informal Ceremony Weds Miss Marks To Carl Thompson At an informal wedding in the Wesley chapel of the Methodist church. Jeannette Marie Marks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray r. Marks, 72 Renault avenue, became the bride of Carl R. Thompson, June 9. The Rev. Meredith A. Groves performed the ceremony. Wearing an aqua suit with white accessories and a corsage of white rosebuds, the bride was given in marriage by her father at the 8:30 o clock evening cer emony. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson, Ashland. Miss Beverly Cram, at maid of honor, wore a beige suit. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Kenneth Thompson, Ashland, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Arthur Phillips ushered. The home of the bride's par ents was the scene of an infor mal reception following the cer emony. Family members at tended. The couple will make their home in Ashland after a trip to northern California and coastal points. A graduate of Medford high school, the bride has finished one year of teaching education at Southern Oregon college. The bridegroom is a graduate of Ash land high school. Miss Poutre Wed To New York Man In Recent Service Dolores Maureen Poutre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon ard L. Poutre, 2653 Buckshot road, exchanged wedding vows with Kenneth Andrew Schwalb in a 3 o'clock afternoon ceremo ny May 28 in the First Baptist church. The bridegroom is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schwalb of Hvde Park. N. Y. The Rev. Wolford A. Dawes of ficiated. Miss Evelyn Graham, organist, furnished the wedding music. The bride wore a white or gandy dress and her corsage was of carnations. Miss Mardelle Fearling. maid of honor, wore a yellow eyelet embroidered dress and carnations formed her corsage. Walter Gemeinhardt, Central Point, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, acted as best man. About 100 persons attended the wedding and reception held in the church parlors. Mrs. Wal ter Gemeinhardt assisted at the reception. Church and reception decorations were arranged from roses and other spring flowers. The bride is a 1945 graduate of Medford high school and later attended Southern Oregon col lege. I he hndegroom is a gradu ate of Hyde Park high school and vocational school in Syra cuse. N. Y. He also served in the army. (Shangle photo) Miss Joan Davis. Arnold Ragsdale Married in Reno Talent Miss Joan Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Davis. Talent, became the bride of Arnold Ragsdale of Trail at a ceremony held June 10 in Reno, nev. The Rev. Mark Pike of the First Methodist church of Reno read the service. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ragsdale, Trail. The bride wore a suit of dusty rose with navy blue accessories and an orchid corsage. She was attended by Mrs. Morris Hopper (Margaret Bismark) who wore a navy blue suit with white accessories. Mr. Hopper was best man for the bridegroom. The Hoppers served as attendants for Miss Davis and Mr. Ragsdale imme- lately after their own wed ding, performed by the same minister. Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale will live at Trail. Littrell Family Has Reunion Here The children of Mrs. Belle Littrell, 115 South Newtown street, were re-united for the first time in twenty-three years in a family gathering at the home of Mrs. Littrell last week end. Here for the occasion were Mrs. H. M. Charwick, Beverly Hills. Cal.; I. P. Littrell. Los An geles; D. B. Littrell, Chicago and E. K. Littrell, Coos Bay. An other son. Al Littrell, lives at 10 Groveland avenue. Mrs. E. K. Littrell, accompanied her husband from Coos Bay, and Mrs. Al Littrell attended the family dinner at Mrs. Littrell's home. Mrs. Al Littrell was also host ess in her home for a dinner gathering of the family. Will Picnic Friday Lively Oaks club members will meet for a picnic in Tou Velle park on the Rogue at 6:30 p. m., Friday. June 23. Announce Wedding Margaret Bismark To Morris Hopper Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bismark announce the marriage of their daughter, Margaret Lucille, to Morris Allen Hopper of Talent. The ceremony was performed Saturday, June 10, at the First Methodist church parsonage In Reno, Nev., with the Rev. Mark Pike officiating. The bride wore a navy blue summer suit with'blue and white accessories and an orchid. At tending the couple were Miss Joan Davis, Talent, and Arnold Ragsdale, Trail, who were mar ried by the same" minister imme diately following the Hopper Bismark rites. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton V. Hop per or wagner creek. The bride, who was graduated from Med ford high school with the class of 1947. is on the staff of the Medford Accounting service and her husband is employed by the r ir-Pine Lumber company. Mr. and Mrs. Hopper are liv. ing at 916 East Main street in this city. Student Graduates From State College James Allen Morrow of Med ford was graduated from Ore gon State college with the 1950 class, receiving a bachelor of science degree. He attended Med ford high school, graduating in 1943 and shortly after entered the army air corps. At the end of the war he enrolled at OSC, ma joring in aeronautical engineering. The young man is now em ployed by the Boeing Aircraft corporation at Seattle, having gone to Seattle immediately fol lowing graduation. He was ac companied by his wife and two- year-old daughter. Patricia Ann. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Har ry W. Morrow, his brother. John, and sister, Mrs. Don Bohnert, were in Corvallis for the gradu ation ceremonies. Designed with a yoke of illusion, the bodice was em broidered with seed pearls and crystal beading. She wore long satin mitts and her fingertip length veil of silk illusion was held by a juliet cap of white satin, embroidered with seed pearls, She held two white orchids arranged with stephanotis on a wnite Bible. Mrs. Wilmer W. Robertson was matron of honor for her sister-in-law. With her rose col ored tatteta gown she wore a matching hat and carried a bou quet of pink and white Esther need daisies with while gladoll. A cousin of the bride, Mrs. Jack Chamberlain, and Miss Dixie Coutts and Mrs. Richard Harri son were bridesmaids. Their gowns were of pink taffeta and they wore matching hats. Pink white and yellow Esther Reed daisies with white gladioli form ed their bouquets. The matron of honor and bridesmaids also wore white mitts. Ronald F. Weatherford. Nam pa, Ida., acted as best man. Ush ers were Bruce Stafford, Curtis Richmond. William Young and Earl Hannen. Other attendants to the bridegroom were Wilmer W. Robertson, brother of the bride; George Knowles and Rich ard Harrison. Donna Childreth. daughter of nir. ana Mrs. Keith Childreth, Klamath Falls, and a cousin of the bride was flower girl. Her gown was of yellow organdv and she wore white mitts. Her flowers were yellow and white fcsther Reed daisies. Candle lighters were Kenneth Robertson, brother of the bride and David Robertson, cousin of the bride. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. McDonald, sister of the bridegroom, and Dr. J. S. Heath- erington, who sang solos accom panied by Mrs. John Eby. A reception in the church im mediately followed the cere mony. Cutting and serving the wedding cake were Mrs. Lor etta Young and Mrs. Elmer Rob ertson, aunts of the bride. Serv ing the punch were Miss Astrid Hansen, Miss Harriett Walker and Miss Elva Carlton of Pros pect. About 275 guests attended the wedding and reception. Candelabra, baskets of white gladioli, pink and yellow snap dragons, and ferns formed the setting of the wedding as well as the reception. Arrangements of yellow rosebuds in baskets were also used at the reception Mrs. Davis Young was in charge of the guest book. The bride and bridegroom are Medford high school graduates The bride attended the Univer sity of Oregon two years and for the past year has been employed by the Medford branch, United National bank. The bridegroom is a graduate of Oregon State college and a member of Theta Chi fraternity. Out-of-town guests for the wedding were Bill Templin and Donald Noon, Roseburg, frater nity brothers of the bridegroom the Rev. and Mrs. Weatherford!
