He saw no flies on the Gilbert door and conclud ed that certain colors are against the grain of insects. In this case, white. Some local merchants quickly fell in love with Mrs. Gilbert after the word got around. They sold lots of cotton. Cotton sales, according to re ports, went up about 50 per cent. Flies Leave City Flies got so unhappy they left the city and the latest dispatches say there hasn't been a single fly around yet this spring. In Washington, the depart ment of agriculture, ever on the look for a club to use on the fly. is alert. ' Acriculture Secretary Charles F. Brannan had no comment. Creagh Brennan of Pendle ton, a "nationalist," won the sec ond post of secretary of state! Jo Ann Toikka of Astoria, a "federalist." was electpd treas urer; Mary Hooker, Klamath Falls "nationalist," was named attorney general, and Ann Hill of Cottage Grove, a "national ist," was elected labor commissioner. In the non - partisan races Katherin Burlingham of Forest Grove, won the position of chief justice of the supreme court. Other justices are Ann Charles of Eugene. Americans to Hear Information on Atomic Energy Washington, June 18 (U.R) The atomic energy commission has decided to tell Americans some of the things Russians al ready know about atomic en- FVhat it tells probably will be of value to industry and private research, an official said today, but it won't set off any sensa tions. The public will know as little as now about weapon technol ogy, stockpiles, ana production rates. Of more interest to the gen eral public will be other atomic releases coming up in the next couple of months. They will tell the public part of what it already has heard about H-bombs reactions, more than it presently knows about A-bomb blast effects, and quite a lot about radiation injury and how to treat it. The other technical Informa tion for the most part will be scientific data relating to atomic reactors the machines for mak ing atomic power, explosives, or both. It won't be shoved out in one package and won't in any way compare to the famous Smyth report on the A-bomb which was put out in 1945. The information will be released gradually. The declassification mills grind slow ly. The decision to release more reactor information is based on the .simple fact that Russia ob viously already possesses it and so there is no point in keeping it from American.
