Juna II, ItSO Camp and Auxiliary Announce Meetings; Attend Flag Service Colonel Sargent camp and auxiliary will hold the monthly potluck dinner and meetings at the armory Sunday, June 18, at 1 p. m. This will be the last meeting until September. Department Commander Har- riman of Portland ana memoers of his staff are expected to be In Medford for the meeting, with Commander Harriman making his official visit to the camp. Officers and colors of the auxiliary are requested to wear white formal gowns for the meeting. New officers of the auxiliary, not previously announced, are Mrs. Ruth McColltster, secre tary, and Mrs. Merle Jarmin, treasurer. A group of camp and auxiliary members were in Grants Pass last Sunday to attend the annual Flag day service given by Rogue River auxiliary in the VFW building. This luncheon, a traditional annual affair, is given by officers of the PTA as an expression of appreciation for the aid given the organization during the year and was this year headed by Mrs. F. L. Ragsdale, vice-president. Teachers who attended includ ed Kenneth Hulburt, principal of the school; Mesclames Grace Kirtley, Marian Beeson, Kathryn Larison, Jennymae Sherwood, Dora Shephard, Georgia Davis, Catherin Walker. Benita Gun dry, Margaret Wilson, Myrtle Patterson. Ruby Clarke, Alice Lynch, Zola Jordan and Leon a Crane; Misses Gertrude Waltz- ling, Mary Gestring. Laura York and Frances McNeil, Kenneth Raymond and Roy Gilbertson. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rose were the caretakers who attended. Special guests were Mrs. Blanche Canode and Miss Amy Harding who taught at Washing ton school many years but who are now retired. Members of the executive board who assisted Mrs. Rags dale with the luncheon included Mrs. W. T. Frost, president this past year and Mesdames J. J. Finegan, R. E. K. Ellson, 793 Marshal avenue. Mrs. Floyd and Mrs. Anderson are sisters of Mr. Ellson. Brother Arrives William R. Tarns, electrical technician in the navy, has ar rived in Medford to visit with relatives. Mr. Tarns Is assigned to the USS Norton Sound. While here he will attend the wed ding of his sister, Miss Sally Jane Tarns to Jack L. Sanders which is set for tomorrow. An invitation is extended to all interested women in the area to meet and hear Mrs. Cornett. Annual Meeting Of Youth Union Set For Ashland Crater Lake Christian En deavor union has planned the annual spring convention for June 17 and IB at the Ashland Church of Christ. The program will be climaxed by a youth ban quet and rally Saturday evening and Dr. Ross J. Griffeth, presi dent of Northwest Christian col lege at Eugene will be guest speaker. The program for Saturday will also feature a Christian work shop for tiie young people. Serv ing as teachers will be Mrs. Har lan P. Bosworth Jr.. of Medford. .Mrs. Carl Hovers of Central Point and the Rev. Don Myers, minister of the CVntnil Avenue Church of Christ. Medford. Bob Pruitt is the song lead er for the rally Saturday eve ning, which will begin at 7:45 p.m. and Misses Nancy and Denice Holloway will give piano and organ duets. H is stated that housing will be provided In Ashland Satur day night for all delegates. Sunday morning the delpgates will each attend his preferred church and al 1 p.m. a picnic is scheduled in Lithia park, follow ed by an afternoon of recreation and fellowship. Charles Ferrell of Grants Pass will be in charge of the closing devotional period. Churches represented in the convention will be Grants Pass Church of Christ, Central Point Church of Christ. Medford First Presbyterian church. Medford Baker-Kennedy Team Wins Bridge Session; To Play at Camp White Top score for Tuesday's meet ing of Medford Duplicate Bridge club was held by Mrs. Frank R. Baker and Bill Kennedy, the couple scoring 8OV2 points for the evening's play. In second place were Mrs. B. L. Sanderson and T. J. Fuson with a score of 71 points. Third went to Mrs. F. G. Bunch and Mrs. G. R. Owens, with 69 points, and in fourth place were Mrs. Al Gilhousen and Mrs. William Isaacs, who scored 65 points. Mr. Isaacs and Wilbur Hood, the latter of Port land, were in fifth place with 62 '2 points. The club announces that the meeting next Tuesday night will be at Camp White, rather than at the Medford hotel. Play will be gin at 7:30 p. m. Visitor Here Walter W. Magee of Long Beach., Cal., is in Medford to visit his son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Allen Jr., 48 Windsor avenue. Mr. Magee is en route to his home after a trip east and south and will continue to Long Beach this week-end. Today the Aliens and Mr. Magee made a trip to Crater lake. Plan Annual Picnic For Episcopal School Teachers of St. Mark's Episco pal church school are making plans this week for the annual church school picnic which has been set for Sunday, June 18, at Lithia park In Ashland. All chil dren of the school and their fam ilies are invited to attend. Each family is to bring its own pic nic lunch, while coffee, punch and ice cream will be furnished. Since the picnic will be on: Fathers' day, a father and son baseball game is planned and other entertainment planned will include bubble gum and yo-yo contests, potato and sack races and a wheelbarrow race. Those needing transportation are asked to meet at the church at 1:30 p. m. Picnic Held Jackson County Overseas War Brides entertained Klamath County War Brides last Sunday at an indoors picnic held at the Veterans' Housing project. The Presbyterian Groups Plan Supper, Meeting Jacksonville Mariners' club members and their families of the Jacksonville Presbyterian church will meet at the Melvln Hall home Sunday at 5 p. m. A potluck supper will be served. The Woman's Missionary so ciety of the Jacksonville Pres byterian church will meet Thurs day at 1 p. m. in the church, parlors for a dessert luncheon. THIEVES GUESS Knoxville, Tenn. (U.R) Two men with a pay check stolen from a mailbox chose the wrong place to get it cashed the chain grocery where its rightful owner, R. T. Fields, was employed. A cashier noticed that the check was made out to Fields. The thieves escaped under a hail of pistol shots. Pavilion To Be Used At Gold Rush Jubilee Jacksonville, June 16 Jack sonville Community Hall, Inc., announced work will start Mon day to enclose the pavilion on C street here. The pavilion will be used In connection with the an nual Jacksonville Gold Rush jubilee sponsored by the Jack sonville Lions club, August 5 and 6. Dances, an amateur contest, old time fiddlers' contest and other events will be held In the pavilion during the jubilee. The Jacksonville Community Hall, Inc., Is a non-profit organi zation which was recently set up by the Jacksonville Lions club to administer the hall.
