Miss Delsman will be employed for the summer at Community hospital as a labora tory technician. Daughter Born Mr. and Mrs. Ken Foote, Crescent Citv, Cal., have announced the birth of a daughter, Susan Elizabeth, on June 8. Mrs. Foote is the former Rhoda Idcn of Medford. She was active in the Medford Toastmis tress club and was dental assist ant to Dr. I. D. Phipps. To Hold Dance Upper Rogue Teen Age club will hold a square dance party at the Shady Cove schoolhouse today beginning at 7:30 p.m. A short meeting will be held before the dance. It is stated that Ray Briggs will do the call ing and give instruction. A small admission charge will be made to cover refreshments. f From Milwaukee Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Krause, Milwau kee, W i s., arrived Sunday to make their home in the valley. At the present, they are staying with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Krause, route 1. box 208. The Krauses have another son here. Laurel Krause. who is a commercial teller at First National bank. New on Staff Louis Smith arrived the first of the week from Corvallis to become a staff member of the Central Drug company. Smith, a pharmacist, was a member of the 1950 grad uating class of Oregon State col lege. Mrs. Smith is expected to arrive here during the week. The couple will make their home at 430 South Grape street. Students Visit Myrna and Howard Huenergardt, who have attended Walla Walla college and College Place, Wash., the past year, were week-end guests of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huenergardt, route 1. Miss Huenergardt left Sunday for southern California where she will be employed for the summer and her brother returned to Col lege Place on Tuesday to attend the summer session. From St. Louis Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Racine arrived this week from St. Louis, Mo., where Dr. Racine was graduated from the Washington University Dental college. Mrs. Racine is the for mer Jeanne McKay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. McKay. 1025 Reddy avenue, who they are now visiting. The couple ex pects to remain here at least until about the first of August. Dr. Racine will enter the prac tice of dentistry upon comple tion of state examinations. Crews Report Twenty young men who will man stations of the state forest patrol in Jackson county during the summer re ported for duty today at Med ford, Wimer, McLcod and Lin coln. They will be used in bat tling forest fires. Injured Mrs. Edna Hanna, 228 Haven stret. suffered a frac ture in her right leg above the knee, when she fell after step ping into a hole In the yard at her home. The accident occurred Monday. Mrs. Hanna has been confined at the Osteopathic hos pital. From Ephrata Mrs. Myrtle Peed. Ephrata, Wash., arrived Monday to visit about a week with her aunt, Mrs. L. F. Bel knap, at the Jackson hotel. Mrs. Belknap has recently returned to the valley after an extensive winter visit in northern Oregon and Washington state. New Employees Mrs. Alice Forbes. 302 O'Gara street, began work this week in the IBM de partment of the First National bank. Miss Joy Starr, Rogue River, a 1950 graduate of Rogue River high school, is a new mem ber of the bookkeeping staff at the bank. In Kansas Mrs. Elolse Win klebleck, 1113 South Oakdalc avenue, left last week-end by plane for Kansas, by way of San Francisco. Mrs. Winkle bleck, who will visit relatives in Kansas City and Phillipsburg, Kan., is to be gone about two weeks. Junt 15. 1950 60 Trainees End Fire Prevention Forest Training Sixty trainees, representing the key men in the first control organization of the Rogue River national forest, left the class room today and returned to the field to begin their annual work of protecting southern Oregon forests from the ravages of an other fire season. The 60 are responsible for the protection of a forest area cov ering about a million acres. Dur ing the past three days they have been getting instruction in map reading, the use of fire-finder instruments, smokechasing. small fire suppression, the elements of fire behavior and the factors which influence fire behavior on a going forest fire, small crew action on medium sized fires and foremanship on large fires where large crews are employed. Three-Day School This year s school for f t r e guards was held the past three davs in the Butte Falls ranger district and was under the super vision of Verus W. Dahlin, fire control staff officer for the for est. The trainees were from all the ranger districts in the Rogue River forest Applrgate. Ash land, Butte Falls, Klamath and Union Creek.
