TOUGH ONE TO DECIDE Boston (U.R) It looked like a fatal choice for a liquor store clerk, J. Albert Cassldy Jr., when one holdup man demand ed: "Hands up!" while the gun man's companion shouted: "Hands down!" Before he had time to decide, the bandits got together and took SI 77 from him. The Grange Sims Valley Grange Sams Valley Grange held reg ular meeting June 3 with good attendance. Several candidates for first and second degrees were unable to be present and their induction was postponed until a later date. Matter Ralph Jamee an nounced he would leave this weekend for Ontario as a dele gate to the State Grange con vention June 11 to 17. The long awaited program was presented by the men. A m o i Gamsby, In charge of the pro gram, presented the following: A skit with a cast which included Gamsby, Ralph James, Arnold Nease and R. E. Nealon. Next, Wes McDonough was featured in a hula dance, complete with authentic grass skirt and accom panied on the piano by Connie McDonough. This number prac tically brought down the house and was followed by a style show in which the men modeled the latest fashions for ladies. No sales were made. The concluding number deple ted the men's version of the ladles attending the monthly Home Economics Club meeting and resulted in the men being invited to the next meeting for a correct first hand account of what the ladies do talk about. Refreshments were served by Mr .and Mrs. Arnold Nease and Mrs. Jack Korner. Eagle Point Grange Eagle Point Grange met June 6. Roy Smith served as Assistant Steward and W. A. Cox sub stituted for Cliff Moore si Steward, Tom Vestal, assistant steward, and Cliff Moore were reported ill. The chaplain re ported Bill Perry as being much Improved and George Ridgley as getting along fine since an oper ation on his leg. Mrs. Fisk, a new member is In Sacred Heart hospital. An award of merit was re ceived from the Red Cross. Upper Rogue Grange invited Eagle Point Grangers to their strawberry f e s t i val Thursday June 13. It was voted to bring ice cream. The first meeting In July was set for Thursday, July 6 as reg ular meeting falls on July 4. First and second degree drill team practice was set for June 14. Brady THE DENTIST CON Few physicians and fewer lay men have higher regard for the health importance and value of tne service or a good dentist tnan I have. Even you gul lible customers of quacks who have to can vass the public constantly t o lure new cus tomers prefer not to recom mend them, be aware by now that every sound or func tioning tooth (your own or an artificial one in stalled by your dentist) Is worth at least $1000. That Is no flight of fancy, either. As an expert on health I would give my opinion in any case that $1000 would be the minimum compensation for the lots of a tooth. Plenty of health-ignorant peo ple lose one tooth after another from disease or accident and con tinue to limp along without the necessary dentistry to replace the missing tooth or teeth with a functionally efficient denture. These misguided ones may try to condone their negligence by pleading that they can't afford the expense just now or by kid ding themselves that the vacan cies do not show if only back teeth have been lost. Both of these notions are spe cious. The very ones who "can't afford" dentistry generally af ford radios, television receivers, expensive automobiles, refriger ators and other luxuries. And even if a cripple can remember in all circumstances to hold his ( her mouth so the vacancy won't "show" it is only a matter of time until the contour of the face alters to conform with the atrophy or shrinking of gum and jaw bone and muscle. You can't conceal this premature aging, wrinkling, sagging of features after it has developed. You can prevent it if you are not top dumb to avail yourself of the skill of the dentist before irre versible changes in mouth, gums and Jaw bone and facial muscles have occurred. But the cosmetic side of the County Democrats To Name Officers Here Saturday New officers of the Jackson county democratic central com mittee will be elected at a meet ing of the group at 3 p. m. Sat urday, at the Medford YMCA, members were reminded today by Mrs. Edward C. Kelly, chair man. A nominating committee com prising Frank DeSouza. chair man, and Mrs. Max Wimmer, Medford, and Warren Loffer, Phoenix, will present candidates at the meeting, and other nom inations will be received from the floor. Most frequently men tioned possible candidate for the chairmanship is Mrs. Kelly for reelection. Those elected will' take office at once, Mrs. Kelly said, and the chairman, vice-chairman and two alternates will serve as dele gates to the state committee meeting scheduled July IS. In addition to naming officers, the committee will fill vacan cies In the rolls of democratic precinct committeemen and women. An attorney's committee on credentials will check eligibil ity of candidates for both com mittee and precinct offices. Mem bers are Rawles Moore, George Codding and Edward C. Having visited Tristan da Cunha to see for myself the condition of the 263 or 270 people who live there people who have the finest teeth in the world I am glad I quit brushing my teeth many years ago. These people have no more use for toothbrushes or den tifrices than they have for liver pills or salts. The early decay and loss of teeth is a sign, mark or mani festation of physical degenera tion. But it is no paradox to say that prompt treatment, repair or restoration by the dentist is the best way to prevent further im pairment of health and vlte from malnutrition.
