C, to Thomas Francis McKenna, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. McKenna of PouBhkeeDsie. The wedding took Dlace Saturday. May 20 at St. Ann's Catholic church In Wash ington, with the nuptial mass celebrated at high noon by the Rev. Russell A. Phelan. Congressman Ellsworth serves this district, and the family has many friends in the valley. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a wedding dress of white satin, made with full train and a yoke trimmed with narrow bands of satin and crystal beading. Her fingertip veil of French illusion fell from a coronet of tiny white forget-me-nots and she carried a cas cade of white orchids, flown from Hawaii as the gift of Dele gate and Mrs. Joseph R. Far riniiton of Hawaii. Mrs. Donald J. Dittmann of Cleveland was matron of hon or for her sister and the brides maids were Miss Beverly Far rington, Miss Sheila Kelly aud Miss Peggv Turner, all of Wash ington. The attendants wore matching gowns of turquoise mnrnuisotle embroidered with white flowers. They carried cas cade bouquets of coral gladioli, the matron of honor's bouquet being centered with white orchids. AH wore coronet head dresses of braided turquoise marquisette. j Miss Michcle McKenna, niece! of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a white organdy : dress and carried a miniature bouquet matching those of the , bridesmaids. i James A. McKenna, Jr., was best man for his brother and the j ushers were John J. McKenna of New York City, Dr. Joseph T. McKenna. and Edward R. McKenna, all brothers of the bridegroom, and Donald J. Ditt mann of Cleveland, brother-in-law of the bride. Miss Joan Fehr was soloist for the ceremony. The reception was held at the Congressional club where tlx ballroom was decorated Willi masses of palms, ferns and white flowers. Kerns and palms banked the fireplace before which the parents of the bridal couple and the members of the wedding partv stood. Mrs. Ells worth received In a gown of aqua brocaded silk taffeta, with which she wore a white orchid corsage and a hat of cocoa flow ars. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of cocoa silk taf feta, with B hat of white flowers and a white orchid completing her costume. , , The buffet table was centered with the wedding cake flankcu bv white flowers and lighted candles. McKenna of New York City, Miss Joan Fehr, Mrs. William Reynolds and Mist i Mary Johnson. ' Mrs. Walter Norhlad, wife ol : Congressman Norblad of Ore-i gon, and Mrs. Ralph Cronlse, in town for the wedding from Albany, Ore., were in charge of the punch bowl. Assisting were Mrs. Charles Hulton, formerly of Eugene, and Mrs. Howard Orcm, formerly of Klamath Falls. Others were Mrs. Hayden S. Garber, Mrs. Joseph C. Fehr, Mrs. Alan C. McBride, and Mrs. Barnet Novek. Presiding over the tea table were the wives of the two sen ators from Oregon, Mrs. Guy Cordon and Mrs. Wayne Morse. Pouring were Mrs. Elon F. Tandy, formerly of Roseburg; Mrs. Jay LeFevre, wife of Con gressman LeFevre of New York: Mrs. Rolla MrMillen, wife of Congressman McMillen of Illi nois: Mrs. Robert Hale, wife of Congressman Hale of Maine; Mrs. John Phillips, wife of Con gressman Phillips of California: Mrs. Errett Scrivner, wife of Congressman Scrivner of Kan sas; Mrs. Joseph R. Farrington. wife of the Delegate from Hawaii; Mrs. Hal Holmes, wife of Congressman Holmes of Washington; Mrs. Walter Judd, wife of Congressman Judd of Minnesota; Mrs. Frank Barrett, wife of Congressman Barrett of Wyoming; Mrs. Sid Simpson, wife of Congressman Simpson of Illinois; Mrs. James Auchincloss, wife of Congressman Auchin closs of New Jersey and Mrs. William O. The bride was graduated from the University of Oregon and Is a member of Delta Gamma sor ority, Phi Beta Kappa, scholastic honorary, Theta Sigma Phi, journalism honorary and Gam ma Alpha Chi, advertising honorary. The bridegroom was graduat ed from the school of law, Cath olic University of America, Washington, D.C, and was ini tiated into Phi Beta Kappa there. Hundreds Attend Spring Flower Show Of Medford Club Hundreds of persons from all of southern Oregon visited the Medford Garden club's 19S0 flower show at the YMCA Tues day. The show was under the chairmanship of Miss Phyllis Rusque, who will serve the Med ford club as program chairman for the coming year, and Mrs. Elton Waldron, past president of the club. Mrs. R. T. Nichol, Sis kiyou district vice-president, act ed in an advisory capacity. Specimens of named varieties of iris made a colorful display. This division was in charge of Mrs. C. C. Sater, who was also responsible for an interesting display of herbs. The tables of arrangements in teapots, pitchers and teakettles of whtcn Mrs. v. H. Barber was chairman, attract ed much attention, as did the corsages which were numerous and varied. Mrs. W. H. Dyer was chairman of this division. Mrs. Neil Davidson was chair man for the miniature and small arrangements, Mrs. Dale Frank lin for the cud and saucer ar rangements, and Mrs. J. J. Brug man for the miscellaneous ar rangements. Displays of tree peonies by L. S. Blythe and L. B. thurman added color and inter est to the show. Carlton nurseries, Leonard Flower shop. Rogue Valley greenhouse, Schmidt's nursery, Berrydale Flower farm, Phillips nursery and Hoppe's greenhouse all entertained in the commercial division. Shangle studio and An ders' Photo shop entered pho tographs of plant subjects Mrs. Raymond Reter and Mrs. E. L. Lenox set a dinner table as a special exhibit. Mrs. J. W. Jacobs and Mrs. Ira D. Canfield set a breakfast table and Mrs. W. L. Walden and Mrs. Lee Williams a luncheon table. A sizable display of pressed flower pictures, secured through the Oregon Federation of Gar den Clubs, showed what mem bera of other garden clubs are doing in this unusual art. Mrs. F. J. Newman was chair man of the silver tea which was continuous throughout the show. She was assisted by Mrs. C. A. Renken and Mrs. R. J. Smith. Pouring and acting as hostesses throughout the day were Mrs. J. W. Jacobs, Mrs. John Ostrander, Mrs. W. L. Greenleaf. Mrs. J. J. Brugman, Mrs. Dave Wood. Mrs. R. G. Beach, Mrs. A. C. Announce Trothal NAiss Iris Thomas And John Stewart Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Owen Thomas of 3034 Lone Pine road, Medford, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Iris Col leen, to John Quincy Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Quincy Stewart of 941 North 12th street, Grants Pass. Festival Director To Speak Friday For AAUW Dinner Angus Bowmer, director of the annual Ashland Shakespear ean Festival plays, will be guest speaker at the May meeting of the Medford branch. American Association of University Wom en. This will be a dinner meet ing Friday, May 26, at 6:45 p.m. at Mon Desir inn and will be the last of the year for the group. The boys' octet from Medford senior high school will be on the program. The boys, who receiv ed a superior rating at the re cent state music contest, will sing several numbers. Mrs. John H. Fisher is In charge of arrangements for the dinner and members are remind ed that their guests will also be welcomed. Season Is Closed By Medford Club; . Honor Mrs. Hanby Wednesday Study club mem bers held the last meeting of the season May 17 at the home of Mrs. O. A. Dierdorff, Hillcrest road. Luncheon was followed-by a short business meeting con ducted by Mrs. F. J. Newman, president. " Honorary membership was es tablished, and to Mrs. A. J. Han by, for many yean a member of the club, went the distinction of being the first woman to be to honored. Annual reports were given, New officers were elected, with Mrs. George B. Canode named president. Others elected were Mrs. L. V. Watkins, vice president; Mrs. Stanley Chlrg win. secretary, and Mrs. Susan Campbell, treasurer. The club's next meeting will not be until October. 4- Miss Helen Robertson Honor Guest of Party; Jo Be Married in June Miss Helen Robertson, bride- elect of Le Roy House Jr., a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. House, 215 North Ivy street, was entertained May 17 at a bridal shower given in the home of Mrs. Ernest Rog ers, 814 Adams lane. The honor ed guest is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robertson. S34 Berry- dale avenue. Hostess were Mrs. Richard Harrison and Mrs. D. Young. Games were played with prizes awarded to Mrs. Robert son, Miss Reta Rogers and Mrs. Kershaw Miller.
