Lelah Ardis Cook, Robert Konopasek Married Recently The wedding of Lelah Ardis Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Cook, Buckhorn .springs, Ashland, to Roberi R. Konopasek was an event of April 18. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kon opasek, 624 Victory street. The service was held at 10 a.m. in Zion Lutheran church, with the Rev. O. W. Ebright of. ficiating. Mr. Cook gave his daughter in marriage. For the ceremony the bride wore a brown and white suit with white accessories and her attendant, Mrs. Jerry Poole, wore a gray suit with white ac cessories. Gene Konopask was best man for the bridegroom. Mr. Konopask and his bride are living at 520 South Fir street following a wedding trip to Port land. The bride was graduated from Jacksonville high school with the class of 1949 and the ; bridegroom attended advertising art school in Portland following graduation from school in Verdi gree, Neg. Shady Cove Teen-Agers Elect Club Officers; Announce Dance Plans Shady Cove Pat Brown was elected president of the newly formed Shady Cove teen-age club at a meeting of the group held this week. Jim Linderman was voted vice-president; De Lores Saari, secretary; Bill El der, treasurer and Jerry Note and Stanley Kee, sergeants at arms. About 50 teen-agers attended and plans were made for a sock hop dance to be held Monday, May 15 in the schoolhouse. A special meeting at 7:30 p.m. will precede the dancing. A small charge will be made for the dance to cover costs of refreshments. Mrs. Helen John ston, Bill Shepherd and Mrs. Woods will be adult counselors at the dance. All parents and teen-agers of the vicinity are invited to attend this first func tion sponsored by the teen-agers. I I f 11- Jean Hart's Diary Sunday, May 14 Every summer, several years ago, when I was a custom er I would vow to have more play clothes next year more sun dresses, more comfortable shorts. Then when actual summer came I could never find them. Well, I've found them now. Dozens of them not only for me, but for you and you and YOU. I have shorts and shirts and pedal pushers in seersucker, sail cloth and denim, And denim this year has a cast of many colors including plaid (and I have them all). I have jackets to match the shorts, slacks and pedal pushers. I have sleeveless shirts and T-shirts in stripes and plain colors. I have tops for added sun and short fit ted bolero tops for controlled sun. I have beach clothes, pool clothes, barbecue clothes and if it's as hot as it was Thursday I have BATHING CLOTHES and I'll tell you all about them next week. Miss Colleen Hope To Spend Summer Studying In France Miss Colleen Hope, who con ducts the Colleen Hope Danc ing studio, left last evening for Portland where she en planed today for New York City on the first part of a journey which will take her to England and the old continent. From New York, Miss Hope will sail on the Steamship Georgic for Liverpool. Then she will leave for Paris. France where she will study at the Paris Opera Ballet school dur ing the summer. While, in Paris she will be a houseguest at the home of Ma dama Tatiana Piankova. form erly with the Imperial Russian ballet. Tuesday Miss Hope was en tertained at a farewell party in her honor held in Kity's Rogue Riviera near Gold Hill. Those attending were Mrs. Mayme Botts, Mrs. W. J. White, Mrs. John Greene, Mrs. Theda Hilton, Mrs. J. H. Wilterhalder, and the Misses Dallas Mae Bar nard, Patsy White. Marlene Garman and the honored guest, who received many gifts. Parents Visit Schools For Mother's Week-End Mothers of university students are in Eugene this week-end for the annual Mothers' weeK-ena fpstivities. Leaving Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Earl York, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Marsh and Mrs. Wayne Mack. Mrs. York is visiting her son, Tommy Frey, and in ad dition the Yorks and the Mar shes will visit Mr. and Mrs. Larry Marsh, who live in Eugene. Mrs. Mack will visit her daughter, Miss Betty Mack. Also in Eugene for the week end program are Mrs. Frank Perl, visiting her son Bill Perl, Mrs. Fitzhugh Brewer is a guest of her son, Fitz, and Mrs. George Weir is visiting her son, George Jr. Mrs. Raymond Miksche is. spending the week-end with her daughter, Miss Stephanie Mik- sche. Among those who visited Ore gon State college last week-end were Mrs. F. Wilson Wait, who visited her daughter, Mary Virginia, at the Delta Delta Delta sorority house, and Mrs. J. H. Clabby, whose daughter, Catherine, is also a Tri Delta. Mrs. Clabby's son, Jim, is also a student at the university. Mrs. J. F. Moore was a guest of her son, Jim, a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. Secretary Leaves For Vacation Trip Mrs. R. H. V, Bride-Elect Honored At Shower Wednesday; Wedding Set For June Miss Betty Stebler, of Ash land, bride-elect of Leonard F. Johnson, also of Ashland, was honored guest at a shower given May 10 in the home of Mrs. H e r m a n De Groot, Phoenix. Miss Stebler is a. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stebler, Ash land and her fiance is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Leonard Johnson of Ashland. Mrs. Donald Forbes, Medford, was co-hostess for the occasion. Appropriate games were played. Frizes were won by Mrs. Vernon Ritchie, Mrs. Leon Close, Mrs. Neil Stockebrand and Mrs Edward Joanis. Notes within small umbrellas which swung from an archway, directed the bride-elect to her gifts. Central Point Group Will Meet Wednesday Central Point "Broiled Din ners" is the topic to be studied by the Central Point Extension unit at a meeting Wednesday, May 17, at 10:30 a. m.in the home of Mrs. K. C. Wernmark, Eighth and Laurel streets. The demonstration will be in charge of Mrs. Charles Jantzer and Mrs. Frank Meadows. Installation of officers will be held during the afternoon. Child care will be in charge of Mrs. Eunice Jones. Third and Laurel streets. Luncheon will be served at noon for a nominal fee and everyone is to bring ta ble service. Twenty-five members of the unit attended the annual Spring Festival last week. Seven mem bers modeled dresses which they had completed during the dress making workshop and eight members participated in a Dan ish folk dance. Gloves, lamp shades and blouses were exhib ited. ' Six members. modeled 'better dresses they had, made. . -i. -. ; Grants Pass Unit Announces Annual . , Summer Art Show Grants Pass The Grants Pass chapter of American Association of University Women has set the third annual southern Oregon art exhibit for August 11, 12 and 13, it was announced last week. It will be hi'id at the Washing ton school, Third and B streets. Extensive plans lor tne event are being made by committees. The exhibition is open to all artists in southern Oregon, the committee states, and media are oil, water color, pastel and black and white. Oil paintings must be framed, but others may be mat ted. A small entry fee will be charged, and not more than three pictures may be submitted by any one artist. The Grants Pass Camera club will hold an exhibition at the same time, with a small entry fee for non-members. Additional information regarding the cam era club show may be obtained at Barrett's Stationery store in Grants Pass, and entry blanks may be obtained at the Medford Art center in Medford or at the Grants Pass Chamber of Com merce in Grants Pass. Lodge Members Leave For State Convention In Astoria This Week .A large delegation of Odd Fel lows and Rebekahs have left for Astoria, Ore., where they will at tend the annual state convention of the two lodges this week. Royal Neighbors To Present Pins A special program is being planned by the Royal Neighbors of America for Thursday, May 18 at the K.P. ball beginning, at 8 p.m. Twenty-five year pins will be presented to more than 20 members. All Royal Neighbors in the valley, their families and friends are invited. 1 In Salem Central Point Miss Laural Jewett was at Willamette uni versity last week-end for the annual May week-end festivities. She was a guest of Miss Patsy Faber at the Delta Gamma sor ority house. Among events she attended was a song fest between sorori ties and fraternities which was won by the Delta Gamma group. LADIES!
