TWO MEDTORD (OREGON) Iftogunes nim E3ei?e TTonnngM; Caii'dls Lose Medford Roguei will play the Willowt Cardinals at the local fairground! park in a doublt-haadar today tiartmj at 6:30 p. m., to eloia thtir cur rent home viiit. The local Far Wet league club leavei Tues day morning to open in Maryt Tille. By Hanlc Gram Mail Tribune Sporli Editor They forgot to turn on the heat again out at the ball park last Friday night and by the time nine innings had been play ed the fans were not the only ones who were chilled because Willows got a cold shoulder from the Medford Rogues also. As a matter of fact a pretty nifty piece of pitching by a tall youth going by the name of Jack Lloyd was backed by solid hit ting on the part of his team mates as the Rogues captured their second Far West league in a row, this time a 6 to 0 decision. Only twice in tne game woo Lloyd, wno.toaay nas a nH no loss record, in serious trouble. Flrat Innlna Blues First occasion was in the first inning when Bob Hayes Slid Jim Kyker connected for "nS with no one out and In the fourth frame when Jake iiei- muth opened witn a auuuie ou Gene Clear drew a base on balls, also with none out. However, Medford's hurler who has been called by Player Manager Tommy Nelson a defin ite class A and higher league hore down hard on both occasions and the next three Cards went out in order. He walked but two Cardinals batters. , .... The Rogues backed him up with a 13-hit attack that saw only three of the safeties fail to count in the run-making. Martin. Cooney Lead Martin who lashed out three hits in as many trips and Coon ey who was credited with the aame ratio led the local attack. Bob Haddock who played last aeason for the Pittsburg Diam onds and was bought by the Salem Senators this year, Join ed the Rogues Friday in time for the game that night. He was released by the WIL club and igned here. While none of the fielding was on the sensational side of the ledger for either team the Rogues went errorless and botn the Infield and outfield made ome harder than usual plays. Gugllelmo and Bill Adams par ticularly doing some "country mile" running to pull down a few long drives. Fielding Ratee Good Al Bolen at third and Russ Stuart at shortstop came up with two or three nice fielding gems, Including one by Stuart who had to throw while off balance but! the ball went true to the rnarK t first base.
