Association, School Plan Coming Events In Lone Pine District Lone Pine Parent-Teacher as sociation and the school have made plans tor a number ol fu ture events. The annual Community Day has been set by the school for Friday, May 5, and it is an nounced that all friends are-cordially invited to attend. A picnic will be held at noon and a mu sic festival is planed for the eve ning at which time the health and athletic awards will be pre sented. Lone Pine Parent-Teacher as sociation announces that Prof. Laurence Butler of Southern Oregon college will show the film, "Human Growth" May 18 in the evening. This is for adults only and association officers hope that all parents of Lone Pine school children will avail themselves of this opportunity for seeing this important pic ture. Children who will start to school next fall will be given a health check-up at the school on the morning of May za. vr. a. Merkel will be in charge. At the April meeting election of officers was neid, witn Mrs. H. Chandler Drew named presi dent. Others elected were Mrs, Scott Wickersham, vice-presi dent; Mrs. J. E. Owens, treasurer and Mrs. Clyde Taylor, secre tary. Meetings Announced For Phoenix Groups Phoenix Phoenix Neighbors of Woodcraft will meet Tnursday at 8 p. m. in the Phoenix Grange hall. Serving committee will be Mrs. Marvin Hixson and Mrs. Earl Brisco. Phoenix Woodcraft Thimble club will meet at the home of Mrs. Mark Norton Friday, May 5. with Mrs. Frank Lovett as sisting. A covered dish lunch eon will be served at noon. ' Meeting Announced For Butte Falls Unit Butte Falls Butte Falls Ex tension unit will meet Friday, May 7, at the home of Mrs. Fred Kincaid. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon and each one attending is to take table service. Miss Eula Wintermote, coun ty extension agent.will give the lesson on "Correct Home Light ing." Visitors, as well as all mem bers, are welcome to attend. Return 1 Mr. and Mrs. R. H. MacLauch lan Jr. returned Saturday from Vancouver, B. C, where they spent a week with Mr. McLauch lan's parents, Dr. and Mrs. R. H. McLauchlan, who had come to Vancouver from their home in Calgary, Canada. The four were registered at the Vancouver hotel and the men enjoyed deep sea fishing during their stay. The Medford couple made the trip both ways by plane. Medford Man Graduates Panama City, Fla., May 2 Lt. R. B. Smith Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Smith, 214 Van couver avenue, Medford, gradu ated from the air tactical school at Tyndall air force base here last week. Missionary Society Sponsors Silver Tea Phoenix The silver tea and special meeting held by the La dies' Missionary society of Phoe nix Presbyterian church last Wednesday was pronounced a success in every detail. The guest speaker, Mrs. Otto Niedermeyer of Jacksonville, used "Stewardship" as her theme and was favorably received. Mrs. J. O. N. Poling of Phoenix led devotions. The tea table was decorated with bouquets of pansies and candles and a yellow candle sur rounded by pansies centered each small table at which the guests were seated. Pouring were Mrs. C. M. Med calf and Mrs. J. W. Watkins. Five new members became af filiated with the society during the afternoon. 4 PTA City Council Announces Meeting Medford Council of Parents and Teachers will meet Thursday at 1 p. m. at the Girls' Commu nity club. Hostesses will be mem bers of the Jackson unit execu tive group. Dessert will be served, with the program following. The Roosevelt Mothers' chor us will sing, directed by Mrs. Otto Frohnmayer. Reports will be given by delegates to the state convention at Portland and new officers will be installed. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church, has left for Stockton, Cal., where he will attend a meeting of the provincial synod of the eighth province of the Pa cific of the church. The rector is one of five dele gates to the meeting from Ore gon, and was elected at the dio cesan convention in Portland re cently. Mrs. D. O. Hood is attending as a representative of the Ore gon women's auxiliary. She too was named at the diocesan con vention. Mr. Bolster plans to return Thursday.
