The brown-haired child, small for her age, walked barefoot four miles from the barn into nearby Lockeford and told a sto ry that touched off a vound-up of known sex offenders. Apr. 1 Young sters of the community up through the age of 10 years will be Huests of Central Point busi nessmen at an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 8 in the city Dark. Committeemen in charge re ported that Mayor Al Setness will be official starter and that the hunt will commence at 8:du a.m., rain or shine. 2.000 Eggs Hidden There will be three groups for youngsters and three hunting areas. Those through tour years ot age win De in one division, those through seven in tne sec ond and those through 10 in the third. About 2,000 eggs will be hid den and hundreds of prizes will be offered, committeemen said. Three prize trucks are planned, one for each division. Each merchant is donating a major prize and some of them will be shown in store windows this week. Other prizes will be bought with funds ieft over trom the community Christmas party. Egg Coloring Dated All businessmen are asked to participate in an egg coloring party at the high school at 7:30 p.m. rrictay. Parents particularly are invit ed to be on hand for the egg hunt. Committeemen plan to start the hunt of the youngest group five minutes ahead of the others in order that all attend ing can witness the antics of the small children. The city park is between Sixth and Seventh streets and head quarters will be on Manzanita street. Sliding Area Astoria Moves 4 More Feet Astoria. Ore Apr. 1 (UP.)- The sliding area on Irving street that has threatened six homes moved another four feet Friday, bringing the total earth move ment for the week to 21 feet, engineers declared. The slippage did not material ly change the condition of the six dwellings that are awaiting rescue by a Portland moving firm. Telephone and power lines were being moved off the con necting portion of Irving so that the homes may be moved along the street on wheels. The Charles Ordway home, first to be moved to safe ground, was wheeled further along the street Friday to make room for other homes that the moving company hopes to bring safely out. . . The soprano concert star sat with her father and mother in a white blouse and chartreuse shorts and told how much she earned in 1049 and the extent of her education. White House officials did not disclose the figure Margaret turned in for her 1949 earnings, but it was recently reported that she grossed over $60,000 last year. The president was not asked about his $100,000 salary. Fort Lewis Announces Training for Summer Fort Lewis. Wash.. ADril 1 (U.R) Plans were announced here today for summer field training exercises for about 10.400 north west officers and enlisted men of the organized reserve corps, national guard and ROTC. The summer camp for army reservists will operate from June 4 through August 26. Units of all sizes, from a CID detach ment to the 91st, 96th and 104th ORC divisions will participate. The largest group scheduled for training is the 41st national guard division from Washington and Oregon, which will be here from June 10 to 24 inclusive.
