BttHT MEPrOHD (OREGON) Jacksonville Mothers Entertained At Tea By Scouts, Brownies Jacksonville About 80 Girl scouts, Brownies and mothers at tended the Juliette Low tea held in the Presbyterian church par lors Friday afternoon. From out of town for the affair were Mrs. Marjorie Hopkins, of Medford, Girl scout director for this area; Mrs. Michele Rossi, Medford, area program director and Mrs. Donald M. Patterson, Central Point neighborhood chairman. Entertainment included a skit entitled "Poky Huntus," done by members of Mrs. Thelma Misen er's and Mrs. Francis Brisbines Girl scout troops. Mrs. Brisbine s troop did a folk dance and also a Chinese song- Brownie troops led by Mrs. Fred Edens and Mrs. Roy White furnished a pantomine of "Han sel and Grelel." , , Mrs. Eddie Frazier, assistant to Mrs. Edens, had built a witch's house which inciuciea ornunrcino to resemble canaies ana cuuki, and also a pen in rustic style to resemble the enclosure of the story used for penning-up Hansel and Gretel. The wishing well used for collection of birthday pennies at the tea also was in cluded in the setting made by the assistant leader, which furnished background for the day's enter tainment. Refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon with Mrs. Paul Culbertson, president of t h e Jacksonville Parent Teacher association, pouring tea and Mrs. Brisbine presiding at the punch bowl- Mrs. Marian Niedermeyer, Mrs. Glenn Gor don and Mrs. John Niedermeyer assisted throughout the after noon. Phoenix Association Changes Meeting Date Phoenix Phoenix Parent Teacher association members have postponed the regular meet ing, when annual election of of ficers will be held, to Thursday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. The meet ing, which will be held in the Shack, will be opened by Girl couts. A safety program will be pre sented and Girl scouts will serve refreshments. .At a recent meeting of the study group in the home of Mrs. Rex Nlcodemus, Mrs. Henry Padgam spoke on social hygiene. MAIL TRIBUNE Willamette University Student Coming Home; Parents Visit Campus A number of Medford stu dents attending Willamette uni versity arrived here over the week-end to spend spring vaca tion with their families. One group was driven down from Salem by a Portland stu dent, Phil Hammond, who will be a house guest of Mr. and Mrs. K. E. Hutchinson and their daughter, Shirley, 22 Keeneway drive. Miss Hutchinson was a member of the party, together with Miss Marlene Vincent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Vincent, 1319 West Main street; Miss Sheryl Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jensen, 1012 Lozier lane; Bill Hess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hess, 224 Van couver avenue, and Miss Pat Fa ber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Faber, Central Point. John Grabow, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Grabow, Kings highway, was accompanied by a classmate, Jim Hale of New berg, who will be a house guest at the Grabow home until the two young men return the mid dle of the week. Miss Sally Moffitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde B. Mof fitt, 1362 Kings highway, ar rived Friday evening by plane to remain until April lu. Miss Eleanor Meeker flew to New York to spend a few days with her mother, i Mrs. Clarence A. Meeker, formerly of Medford and now living in the cast since her appointment as editor of a national magazine for Methodist women. Miss Meeker planned to see a number of shows, among them "South Pacific." Last week-end Mr. and Mrs. Harry Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Hess and Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson were on the university campus for the annual Freshman Glee, most important event of the year at Willamette. The Olsons vis ited their daughter. Barbara: Mr. and Mrs. Hess visited their son, and the Hutchinsons spent their time with their daughter, bhir ley. Miss Hutchinson served on the decorations committee for the event. ( Mrs. Lucy Lyman Visits In South Mrs. Lucy Lyman, 1003 West Main street, has left for Califor nia where she will spend a few weeks visiting her daughter and family in Bakersfield. In Pasa dena she will visit her niece, Miss Helen Schoenl. Mrs. L y m a n's nephew, Lt. Cmdr. Arthur Schoeni resides in Washington, D. If J Officers Nominated By Jackson PTA Unit; Frolic Reports Given A slate of officers for the com ing term, selected by the Jack son Parent-Teacher association nominating committee, was an nounced at a meeting of trie association's executive commit tee held Thursday night. The committee nominated Mrs. M. A. Putney for president, Al Randies for vice-president, Miss Kathryn Crandall, secre tary and Mrs. Jack White, trea surer. Mrs. Horace M- Doolen was chairman of the nominating committee, and H. W. Gustin, principal of the school, made the report. The slate will be present ed to the association at the next meeting. Reports were made on the re cent spring frolic given by the association and the school, these indicating the event to be the most successful such affair ever held at the school. Mrs. Riley Thomson, president of the unit, and Principal Gustin expressed their appreciation to Medford merchants who contributed mer chandise, supplies and equip ment for the frolic, and to all others who aided with the project. Mrs. Putney, PTA treasurer, was assisted in handling finances by Dick Isaacs, Jack Hartley, Horace M- Doolen and Lee Van Ausdall. Mr. Gustin said that attend ance at the program, presented by pupils of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, exceeded 550 and that 270 persons were served dinner before the troiic. adoui 1,000 attended the carnival later. Two children's movies were shown by Kenneth Hulburt and Ernest Ludwig. Proceeds of the affair will pur chase about 500 new books for the school library, the principal said. Applegate Extension To Meet at Ray Home Applegate Everyone interest ed in extension unit work is in vited to the home of Miss Mollie Ray Wednesday for the April meeting of the Applegate unit. The project will be "Improved Home Lighting," and will be given in the afternoon by Miss Eula Wintermote, demonstration I'he forenoon will be devoted to the business meeting and vot ing on projects to be given dur ing the next club year. A sur prise will feature the Easter luncheon, according to Mrs. Rol land Smith, chairman of the luncheon committee.
