Thii hi first whack at sage- brushers and he's doggoned if hm'm snnnn have all those COW' riihi fluttering up his movie. He thinks they're "fright ening." Irish Film Interests Protesting 'Monopoly' Tluhlin (U.R) Irish film inter ests are protesting the continu ing absorption of movie thea ters in this country by J. Arthur Rank s giant British Illm organ ization. Thev charge that the insn branch of the Rank organization now constitutes an "undesirable monopoly" and have called on the government to safeguard na tional film interests. The Irish subsidiary, launch ed some five years ago to ensure Irish showings of the products of Rank's British studios, now owns five of Dublin's first-run cinemas, leaving only two un der Irish ownership. It also controls some 30 per cent of Dublin's second-run and suburban cinemas, and the larg est houses in Ireland's second and third cities, Cork and Lim erick. In all. onlv about 12 of the capital's 30-odd cinemas remain outside the corporation. Tuna Ship Crewmen Enjoy Nightly Films San Diego. Oil. (U.R) Crew men of the Scarlet Queen, larg est clipper in the San Diego tuna fleet, now enjoy nightly movies during their cruises of 90 days or more. Capt. Charles Coffman in stalled a sound motion picture projector and said he would stock large selections of films for future voyages. The Scarlet Queen, which car ries a crew of 18, already is is equipped with a red-leather cha pel valued at more than $2,000.
