Announce Betrothal Louise Vanderpool And David C. Doran Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Vander pool of Table Rock announced the engagement of their daugh ter, Louise, to David C. Doran, also of Table Rock, on Sunday, March 5. No wedding date has been set. Both young people attended Central Point schools, and both are now students at Southern Oregon college. Mr. Doran is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Doran. Sams Valley Ladies Will Hold Two Events During Coming Week Sams Valley Sams Valley Ladies club met in the home of Mrs. Arnold Gosnell, March 4. Next meeting of the group will meet in the home of Mrs. Milton Sanderson, Thursday, March 16. The annual potluck supper for families and friends of members will be held Wednesday, March 15 in the grange hall. Supper is to be served at 7:30 p.m. Daphne Club Members Entertain Wednesday Mrs. H. L. Nichols, route 2, was hostess Wednesday to mem bers of the Daphne club. A cov ered dish luncheon was served and the afternoon was spent playing pinochle. Present were Mrs. George Mil ler, Mrs. Rex McCarthy. Mrs. Anne Jenkins, Mrs. Harvey Malot. Mrs. Paul Harsin, San dra Malot, Bernie, Timothy and Marie Gunn, Wendell Sipes and Mr. Gunn. League Women Meet, Hear State Officer Mrs. James West, state nresl- dent of the League of Women Voters, SDOke to local members of the league at a meeting in me country club Thursday after noon. Mrs. West gave a resume of plans for the state convention to be held in Klamath Falls May 21 through 23. She also discussed possibilities of changes in the program for the Oregon leagues. This year's program In the state included making studies of state legislature; state tax struc ture; youth authorities; refores tation and conservation. Kennel Club Members To Have Annual Dinner The annual dinner for South ern Oregon Kennel club mem bers will be held Tuesdav, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Y club. Wednesday, March 15, at the Masonic temple, members of the Medford De Molay chapter will be guests. The De Molays will attend the closing ceremony, and refreshments and dancing will conclude the evening. The meeting opens at 7:30 p. m. Junior Red Cross council of high schools entertained March 8 at Camp White initiating the newly redecorated auditorium there. Fred Sears, recreational di rector at the camp, introduced Ronald Robbins. president of the council who acted as master of ceremonies. The program Included saxo phone solo by Richard McCorkle; vocal solo by Nadene Davies ac companied bv Steven Whipple, from Eagle Point high school. Ashland high students fur nished a tap dance by Lenore Brown accompanied by Mary Lee Mason and boys' quartet, Her man Ghea, Dale Dietmann Win ston Mitchell, and Don MacWhir ter. A tumbling act was also pre sented by Ashland junior high directed by Mrs. Fontaine. Mem bers of the act were Pauline Davis, Mary Lou Morgan, Nancy Groves, Billie Jean Davis, Mar jorie Merwin, Elaine Falwell, Pat Keene, Katherine Fader, and Wanda Oden. Medford high school presented a string quartet with Joyce Mont gomery, Maurine .Rice, Robene Starcher and Margaret Huson. Humorous declamation was given by Dale Ward; and a humorous reading by Diana Skidmore. Brass sextet from the Medford high school also, were Keith Mir ick, R a o u 1 Maddox, Kathleen Hicks, Bernie Loslum, Walter Kendall.. Medford junior high students presented were the sloppy six, Pomeroy Sorum, Jerry Lambo, Ted Landers, Ned Landers, Jer ry Adamson, and Kenneth Te land. An interesting climax to the program was given by a poem to Junior Red Cross written by Tommy Thompson, member of Camp vt nite. Door hostesses from Medford hieh school were Louise Kin- cheloe and Holly Black. Miss Charlotte Rogers, field director of Camp White also assisted wnn the program and evening. A special surprise delighted wheelchair patients, and at. Pat rick's day favors were also given patients attending. The tea table was decorated in the St. Patrick's theme and cook ies furnished by the different schools were served. Surprise Party Marks Birthday Anniversary Miss Annie Colley was hon ored on her 16th birthday, March 10. when friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Zahnow. 418 Berrydale avenue. The event was in the form of a surprise to the honored guest who received many gifts. Refreshments with the tradi tional birthday cake were served.
