Dlei On Vacation Clyde Charles Thompson, 56, well i known Klamath Falls resident and a native of Gold Hill, died " Saturday in a Sah Francisco hos pital. He and Mrs. Thompson had been vacationing in California. He had been associated with the Lorenz company in Klamath Falls for 27 years and had for merly lived in Jacksonville as well as Gold Hill. ' Named Treasurer Hal Rick man, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Rickman, 1032 West 11th street, recently was named treasurer of the Associated Students of Gon taga University, where he is a student in the school of educa tion. Rickman was a graduate of St, Mary's academy in 1946. New Snow at Lake Crater Lake national park headquarters reported this morning that two and a half inches of new snow have fallen in the park in the past 24 hours. Total depth is now 121 inches with powder ov er crust. Roads are packed with snow and chains are required for park travel. Young Peoples' Rally A young peoples' rally is being held in the Central Point Holi ness church. Sixth and Pine streets, Central Point, this eve ning and continuing through March 10. Those in charge state there will be special singing and playing. Misses Evelyn Ritten burgh and Betty Miller. Eugene, are in charge of the rally. Judge to Speak Robert F. Maguire, who recently spent 18 months as one of the judges of the Nuremburg war crimes trials in Germany, will be the featured speaker at this week's meeting of the Medford Active club on Thursday at the Rogue Valley Country club. He is- a senior partner of the law firm of Ma guire, Shields and Morrison of Portland. Street New York. March 8 U.R- Oil shares spurted 1 to more than 2 points to feature an irregular- Ashland Council Reviews Forest Sale, Water Rate Ashland. Mar. 8 Ashland city councilmen last night voted to place a charter amendment on the May 19 primary election bal lot, which would clear the way lor sale of forested lands in Ashland canyon to the forest service. The proposed sale has been discussed for more than a year, and was once approved be fore legal difficulties held it up. The special water rate com mittee recommended to the council that water rates be kept unchanged for a year until re sults of a new metering plan can be determined, but councilmen set a special meeting next Tues day to discuss the matter fur ther. The Question is related to budget matters, which will have to be voted on in May, and coun cilmen are anxious to get the sit uation clarified. Radio station KW1N was granted the right to tape-record council sessions for later broad cast, after Mayor Thomas Wil liams broke a tie vote to approve the station's request. Action Delayed Action on a proposed ordi nance to place responsibility for juvenile delinquency upon par ents was held up pending a su- fireme court decision on a simi: ar ordinance passed in Eugene. Lease of the city golf course was again considered, but action was postponed until councilmen "sound out" community senti ment on the proposal. Mayor Williams will name members for the now-innetive city planning commission, it was indicated, following explanation of an injunction suit filed re cently in regard to a re-zoning ordinance. City Attorney Harry Skerry Jr. said that the city had followed improper procedure, and that planning commission approval should have been ob tained prior to passage of the ordinance. VV Medford Permit Vafui Up Over Lost January The major portion of building permit values in Medford lor January of this year was repre sented bv the SI 10,000 permit taken out by the F. W. Wool worth company to remodel and expand its quarters in the Medi cal Center building. Total permit values here for the month were $192,025. That figure was an Increase of 162 per cent over construction values for January of 1950 and an increase of three per cent over December, 1949.
