A JJ Hay F- Baktr Weil-Known Men To Take Pari In Kiwanis Kapers Prominent business and pro fessional men will have leading roles when Medford and Ashland Kiwanis clubs present their 1950 Kiwanis Kapers and Minstrel show February 22 and 23 at Ashland junior high and Feb ruary 24 and 25 at Medford sen ior high. Bay F. Baker, J. U. renney company manager here and min strel interlocutor of the 1949 Kapers, will be interlocutor for ' the "old-fashioned" minstrel act. , The Rev. George Bolster, rector ci Mn..lr' Fnicrnnnl Church. will be middle-man for the con cluding "minstrel moderne, and JIarry Skerry, Ashland city at torney, will be master of cere monies for the variety act. Black-faced end men from 1949 performing again this year are E. Ronald Rice of Frank Huff collection agency, Don Newbury, Medford attorney, and Walter Hamby, Ashland grocer and rancher. Other end men will be Frank Perl of Perl funeral home, Ed Barnett, manager of radio station KWIN, Ashland, and Bert Day of the Ashland street de partment. Potatoes Presumed Being Given To Miners Washington, Feb. 14 U.R Department of agriculture offi cials said today that they as sume surplus potatoes are be ing distributed among families of striking miners and other needy persons, but they doubted that dried eggs and powdered milk have reached relief channels un der the recently announced fed eral food "give away" program. Ray Schwartz, of the produc tion and marketing administra tion's San Francisco office, is in Salt Lake City today to review relief food needs in that area and to determine how well they can be met under plans for dis tribution of surpluses. Washing ton officials of the department explained that state welfare , agencies handle the actual distri bution. 'Flying Barrel' Said Seen In Canadian Sky Halifax, N. S., Feb. 14 U.B Now it's flying barrels. Cant. William Crowcll of Dart mouth, N. S.. reported today he had seen an object late at night rushing through the air with a trail of fire. "The barrel-shaped object ex- Clodcd in a brilliant burst of hie and orange flame." he said. Crowoll's report was support ed bv Doreen Macdonnld of En field'. N. S. "I saw a flaming object roar through the night, and then burst into pieces and disappear," she said. Dominion public weather of fice cNperts thought the object was a meteorite.
