Luncheon Observes f Tenth Anniversary Sojourners' Club Medford Sojourners' club cele brated the 10th anniversary of organization with a luncheon and card party at the YMCA building Thursday afternoon. The organization is for newcom ers to the city. Mrt. A. E. Stout, president. In- troduced charter members and past presidents of the organiza tion who were seated at a special table and presented corsages of red and white carnations. Mrs. Frank Humphrey, who was re sponsible for organization of the club In Medford, cut the birth day cake. Charter members introduced were Mrs. Humphrey, Mrs. Glen Allen. Mrs. Elliot S. Degman, Mrs. Bren H. Starcher and Mrs. A. J. Loeffler. Past presidents introduced were Mrs. Clyde Leonard, Mrs. Ralph Furrer, Mrs. Clay Lee, Mrs. Clifford Howard, Mrs, C. A. Renken, Mrs. Vernon Michaelson, Mrs. C. W. Crary, Mrs. Harry Stahl and Mrs. Lewis Wayburn. . Prospective members intro duced were Mrs. H. E. Nulton, Mrs. R. E, Fugh, Mrs. S. F. Tip pctt and Mrs. F. H. Graten. New members present were Mrs. L. G. McLarens, Mrs. S. S. McLarens, Mrs. R. H. Snvder and Mrs. C. O. Nelson. Mrs. Emory Green of Qulncy, Mich., was a guest. Cards folowed luncheon, with Mrs. Fred Rehiing, Mrs. Elsie Fitzgerald and Mrs. N. F. Reed winning bridge prizes, and Mrs. George Lovenberg, Mrs. H. E, Nulton and Mrs. Oral Freemeyer the pinochle prizes. Flower prizes went to Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mrs. G. L. McLaren and Mrs. Ralph Krows. Hostesses for the special event were Mrs. George Rehart, Mrs. E. M. Sorenson, Mrs. Frank Payne, Mrs. W. W. Darby, Mrs. H. F. Morris and Mrs. A. B. Fleming. About 75 women attended the birthday party. Mrs. Glenn L. Day Meeting ' Set For Jackson PTA; Annual Fete Discussed Plans for observance of found ers' day by Jackson Parent Teacher association were made Monday evening when the execu tive board met at the home ot Mrs. M. A. Putney. The event will be held Friday, February 17, and a silver tea will follow a program, topic for which is "Foundations for Secure Living." April frolic plans were also discussed and the following com mittee appointed for the annual carnival, Mrs. Clayton Jacobsen, general chairman, Mrs. Dick Kaye and Mrs. E. H. Pathman. The date was moved forward to March 24 and the board voted to suggest to the school faculty that the spring operetta be held on a separate date to enable people to better enjoy ootn events. Mrs. James Medley, welfare chairman, reported extension work being carried on to help supply dental care, other health needs and clothing, where de sired. The hospitality commit tee's report was presented the board by Mrs. John Wisely, chair man. Mk Bilev Thomson, president, announced that requests had been received for the re-snowmg ui the film, "Human Growth," ana thot ninno were underway to bring it to Medford at an early date, one aiso oneieu -dress recently made here by Dr. Ralph Eckert. A federal aid to education bill was discussed in relation to the suggestion that tne souin oe innnert monev to industrialize and thereby develop the educa tional system of the region with out other federal aid. Kanaies and mothers of children in the third grade will act as hostesses. Flowering Trees Topic For Eagfe Point Club Eagle Point Eagle Point Gar den club will meet at the home of Mrs. John Carnes on Wednes day, February 15, at 2 p. m. The subject of "Flowering Trees" will be discussed by Mrs. Larkin Grubb of Ashland. Mrs. Grubb will name varieties, dis cuss their culture and present other material. The subject of 'Native Trees of Jackson County" will again be taken up and members are asked to come prepared to give common and botanical names. A few minutes will be given to "What's new In the perennial border." Roll call will be answered by a question. The program chairman Is ar ranging a credit system, with will include attendance, scrap book, quizzes, etc., which will be discussed at the meeting. Members are asked to bring notebooks. w P P m m main P P P P P P P Dinner, Program To Be Sponsored '" By Oak Grove Unit Final plans for a ham dinner, which the Oak Grove Parent Teacher association Is sponsor ing, were made at a special meeting of the association held Friday, February 3. The dinner is planned for Fri day, February 17, and will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p. ra. at the school cafeteria. Commit tee chairmen are Mrs. Carl Nor ris, serving; Mrs. Jim Hopkins, Mrs. Kenneth Thomas, Mrs. George Barker, Mrs. Ray Rush ton, Mrs, Earl Brewold, Mrs. Jim Pederson, Mrs. L. McKay and Mrs. Dale Gott, food; Mrs. Clifford Crosby, decorations, as sisted by Mrs. George Alleng ham and seventh and eighth grade Girl scouts; . Mrs. Edgar Coghili, clean-up. The dinner will be followed at 8 p. m. by a special entertain ment in the school gymnasium. The program will feature Miss Violet Stockham from Southern Oregon college and a group of folk dancers. The group will appear In foik dances of several foreign coun tries and wil be in costume. Miss Stockham has studied extensive ly and has traveled in many of the countries whose dances she stages on her-programs and the committee in charge states the association feels fortunate to have obtained the dancers for the evening. The party was preceded by a politick luncheon, with Mrs. Mel Han cock as co-hostess. Cleo Gilchrist was given a dinner in honor of his birthday February 7 by Mrs. Gilchrist at the Gilchrist home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller and Mrs. Beth Potter of Foots Creek, Mrs. Millie Walker and Bollin Stiehl of Rogue River. Farewell Party Sams Valley Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morgan were honored guests at a farewell party given Feb ruary 5 by Mr. and Mrs, Harold Palmer in their home. Dinner was served and guests spent the evening playing canasta. Others attending were Mr, and Mrs. Hawkins, Mr. and Mrs. Car ter and Mr. and Mrs, Rodniek. RNA to Meet , Royal Neighbors of America lodge members will meet at 7:30 p. m, Thursday, February 18, in the Knights of Pythias hall. Stone In Home Ceremony Jacksonville Miss Maria Jeanne Matheny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Orval W. Matheny, Jacksonville, became the bride of Donald Clair Stoner, son ot Mr, and Mr. Lyie C. Stoner, Applegate, January 23, About 85 relatives and friends attend ed the ceremony performed in the home of the bride's parents by the Rev. Donald H. Bvers, Central Church of Christ. Med ford, at 8:30 o'clock. The bride was given In mar riage by her father. Cedar, com bined with daphne, everlasting flowers and candelabra with white tapers formed the wedding setting. The bride wore a winter white wool crepe princess-style dress with a small veiled white felt cap. For her flowers she carried white hyacinths and flowering quince with pink streamers on a white prayer book. Miss Cleora Meade, a high school classmate of the bride, was ssaid-of-honor. She wore a steel grey sharkskin suit and her corsage was of pink and blue hyacinths, Bruce C, Matheny, brother of the bride, served as best man. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the Matheny home. Mrs. M. B. Sweet and Mrs. Ernst . Lud wig, Medford, aunts of the bride, presided at the table and Mrs. Marias Langley, Medford, cousin of the bride, served the bride's cake.
