Home Service Weds Miss Patricia Marx And Gordon Allard An event of Saturday. Febru ary 4. was the wedding of Miss Patricia G. Marx, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer A. Marx, 1985 Kings highway, to Gordon Deryl Allard. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. W. E. McUulley, Lone Pine, Cal., and Deryl Al lard of Los Angeles. Mrs. Me Culley was in Medford for the wedding, The Rev. George R. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church, read the service at two o'clock In the afternoon at the Marx home and Mr. Marx gave his daughter In marriage. Mrs. Richard Payne gave a piano num ber before the ceremony. For her wedding the bride wore a suit of white wool gab ardine and a small hat of white felt trimmed with pearls and a navy blue veil. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white yellow-throated orchid and the ribbon streamers were knotted with bouvardia. The prayer book was first carried by Mrs. John S. Day of Medford for her wedding. Misa Janis Jorgeusen attended her cousin as maid-of-honor. She wore a wool suit of turquoise blue with a spring felt. hut of palest yellow. Her flowers were a crescent shaped bouquet of pink carnations. Homer Stevenson as best man for the bridegroom. The reception which followed was also at home. Assisting at the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Har old Hulse and Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Welwood,. Pouring coffee were Mrs. Everett Trowbridge, Mrs. William R. Richie Jr., of Ashland and Mrs, O, H. Bengt son; Mrs. R., D. Semon, Mrs. Richard Payne and Mrs. , Otto Wellenslein of Ashland served punch. Mrs. Dwlght Findley and Mrs. Fred Carr cut the wedding cake. An arrangement of pink snap dragon and sweetpeas centered the bride's table, and two five branched candelabra held cream colored tapers. Tall baskets of white stock, pink snapdragons, iris and pink carnations stood nt either side of the fireplace, which had been banked with greenery, and this floral arrangement pro vided a background for the wed ding party during the ceremony. The fireplace mantel held a bou quet of sweetpeas and snapdrag ons. Spring flowers also decor ated the dining room and library. About 100 guesta were present for the wedding and reception. Mr. Allard and his bride will live In Medford. Cellist to Present Program Comments For Music Society Bernard Wlndt, cellist, will give a program commentary for the chamber music concert to be presented by the Medford Mu sical society Monday evening at the First Presbyterian church. Mr. Wlndt, supervisor of music in the Phoenix schools, recently came to the Rogue River valley from New York. He is a concert performer on the cello and will take part in the program to gether with Miss Melba Chehak, violl.it, Harlalee Wilson, violin ist and Almus Pruitt, pianist. The concert will be held In the large Sunday school hall of tne cnurcn. in order that all members of the society may bring guests to enjoy this varied pro gram of chamber music. Various combinations of Instruments will be heard in compositions by Chausson, Grieg, Beethoven, Handel and Faiire. The program will begin at 8 p. m. and hostesses for the eve ning will be Mrs. Mamie Slccter, Mrs. Gertrude Warnock, Mrs. Mabel Sims and Mrs. Fred Strang. Recenf Shower Honors Mrs. Marvin Hedges Mrs: Marvin Hedges, formerly Barbara Gunn, was :-honored guest at a shower given recently Dy ivirs. jacK wrignt and Mrs. Opal Cox assisted by the bride's mother Mrs. Georee Gunn. The party was in the form of a sur prise to the honored guest and took place in Mrs. Gunn's home. The shower motif was used in decorations and presentation of gifts. Games were played and pictures were taken. ,; Miss Nancy Cox had charge of the guest book. Others attending were Misti-s Virgie and Margie St. Claire and Lois Wiley, and Mesdamcs Robert L. The past captain's luncheon is an annual affair and marks the beginning of troop activities for the season. Decorations at the luncheon were in valentine motif and an arrangement of red carnations formed the table centerpiece. Present were Mrs. O. H. Beng tson, Mrs. Carl Bismark, Mrs. C. Rease Braley, Mrs. Homer Marx. Mrs. Stanley Philips. Mrs. C. Lyall Fidlcr, Mrs. Mary Brown and the hostess, Mrs. Barneburg. Mrs.. Robert Sly, formerly Vir ginia Hammond, Eugene, a past captain, was unable lo attend. A dinner party honoring Mrs. Barneburg and all troop mem bers has been planned by the past captains for February 22 at the home of Mrs. Braley, 245 Valley View drive. . First regular meeting of the troop will be held March 14 at the home of Mrs. Bengtson, 122 Oregon terrace, when annual election of officers will be held Block Party Given By Medford Couple At Home Saturday Mr. and Mrs. George Jt. Car ter of 821 East Jackson street entertained their neighbors with a diock party last Saturday evening.-Since many of the resi dents in the block had never met before, the party took the lorm ot a eet-acciuainted " affa r wun games designed to make everyone feel at home. Following an evening of fun the hosts served refreshments and prizes were presented the winners of each game. The party was such a pleasant affair that one guest remarked that it would be a splendid idea for the mayor to proclaim "Block Party week when everyone could become acquainted with his neighbors. Ore., associate grand matron of the order for Oregon, at a pot luck dinner today. Miss Dittemore will be in itiated into the group in June. the pledging took place Feb ruary 1 on the second anniver sary of the sorority on the San Jose campus.
