Eccles Disputed On Living Costs Washington, Feb. 28 U.R) The administration's two key leaders in the fight against in flation today disputed the esti mates of Federal Reserve Chair man Marvin S. Eccles that the new wage-price policy will boost living costs another 10 per cent. Reconversion Director John W. Snyder saidt he new policy should not cause "any material increase" in living costs. Medford Ar. Portland The MACHINERY TAKEN FROM MANCHURIA Mukden, Manchuria, Feb. 24 Delayed) (U.R)Maj. Gen. An drei Koytoun-Stankevitch, com mander of Russian forces in Mukden, said today that the red army has removed heavy ma chinery and equipment from some Mukden factories in ac cordance with a Big Three agreement, Stankevitch made the state ment to a group of foreign cor respondents. He said authoriza tion for the removal was con tained in either the Yalta or Potsdam agreement, but he couldn't remember which one offhand. Evidence Seen The Russian general's state ment came during a frank ques tioning, by correspondents who had visited several Mukden-factories under soviet control with out formal permission. One fac tory visited was the important Kosaka Kaisha, biggest machine tool plant in Manchuria. Correspondents found plenty of evidence that heavy machin ery and equipment had been re moved. They confronted Stanke vitch. The general explained that a Big Three agreement provided that Japanese war industry, which had been highly develop ed in Mukden, wasn't to be left in Manchuria. "And so it happens that some heavy machinery and equip ment of former Japanese war plants has been taken away," Stankevitch said. Taken To Russia He was asked whether it had been taken to Russia.
