Tuttle, 232 Valley View drive, announce the marriage of their ,daughler, Nina, to Richard G Bayburn, major in the United ptates army. Major Rayburn Is 8 son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred B Rnyb,urn, San Fernando.. Calif. ! The wedding took place at !St, Mark's Episcopal church iTucsday, Feb. 19, at .eight o'clock in the evening and was performed by the Rev. Francis Ball. rectoB of the Grants Pass Episcopal church, who read the Service from an Episcopal wed Iding book which had been used at the wedding of the bride's maternal grandmother, married i in San Francisco in 1893. 4- For her wedding Miss Tuttle '-wore a spring suit of light blue '-and a floral hat of pink. She . carried an old-fashioned colon-'.ial-type bouquet of gardenias. Vswoetpeas and carnations. i Attending the couple were i Mr. and Mrs. Shelby G. Tuttle. brother and sister-in-law of the bride. Mrs. Tuttlc's costume was a beige suit worn with brown accessories and a corsage of talisman roses, At the informal reception held at. the Tuttle home, Major Kayburn and his bride cut the first slice of wedding cake with a saber which had been pre sented to the bride's father when ho graduated from the University of Ohio. Cutting of the cake was completed by miss Shirley Wcisenburgor. Major and Mrs. Rayburn are now at Carmel, Calif., and later will continue south to Mexico Upon their return the couple ' will be at home in San Fcrnan do. Mrs. Rayburn attended Med ford schools and later was t aturient at the University of Oregon. Major Rayburn, who ; was graduated from the Unl verslly of California at Los An : geles in 1941, entered the army later that year and during the war served 26 months in the - Aleutian Islands and later spent 10 months on Luzon In the Philippine Islands and on ' Honshu -Island, Japan, Party Is Given By Church Class Homcmakers' class of the Methodist church enjoyed a Valentine party given Feb. 15 at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kihn led games and re freshments were prepared ' and served by the men. Present were Dr. and Mrs. Louis Klrby, the Messrs. and Mcsdames F.rnest Thomsen. RogeriCelebrate 50th Anniversary With Open House Sunday, Feb. 17, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Rogers held open nouse at ineir nome, bub yueen Anne avenue, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary Many friends called during the afternoon to extend congratula tions to the couple. A decorated wedding cake was served to the guests. Pour log were Mrs. A. H. Gregory and Mrs. Edith Prescott and Mr. and Mrs. Rogers' family assist ed in receiving guests. Flowers sent by friends and relatives decorated the rooms. Tuesday evening of last week Mr. and- Mrs. Rogers entertain ed at a family dinner in the Blue Room of the Holland Hotel in celebration of the an niversary. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, their sons and families, including Mr. and Mrs. James R. . Rogers of Spokane, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rog ers and daughter, Judy of Van couver, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Rogers, daughter, Suz anne and son. John, of Prospect, and their daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. John Cary Smith of Medford. Alro present were Mrs. Allen Rogers' parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Donahue of Medford. Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Donahue being sisters of. Mrs. Lucius Rogers. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, Sr. were married Feb. 19, 1896, at Bagley, la. They lived near Bag Icy for 10 years and then resid ed for 15 years at Grand Junc tion and Pavnla, Colo., and for the last 25 years have lived In Medford. Farewell Affair Is Given Monday By Two Hostesses Mrs. N. H. Zacharisen and Mrs. Robert Colburn entertained Monday afternoon at a bridge- luncheon which honored Mrs Jane Swanson who left Medford the next day to make, her home In Sooltlc. The affair was at the Zacharisen home on Beek man avenue. Mrs. O. J. Halboth held high score for cards, Mrs. W. W: Dcnltlns second and Mrs. Swan- son was awarded the traveling prize. The affair Is set for eight o'clock at the college auditorium. The Ashland high school band, directed by Jack Fran cis, will play preceding the in troduction of guests. William M. Briggs will Introduce Dr. and Mrs. Stevenson and faculty members, T. S. Wiley, mayor of Ashland will speak and a wel come to the honored guests will be extended by C. R. Bowman, superinten dent of county schools. Leland P. Valley Couple Wed Last Week At Chapel Here 1 Among weddings of last week was that of Miss Inez Josephine Kendall, Medford, to Ray Ed ward Reid of Phoenix which took place Thursday, February 21, at the Chapel of the Rocks and Roses. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. T- Dynge, 331 West Sixth street. and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Reld, Phoenix. For the service, performed by the Rev. D. E. Millard, the bride wore a sky blue dress with rose trim and a corsage of gardenias and roses. Miss Helen Marie Kendall, sister of the bride, was mald-of-honor. She was gowned in a dress of nile green and wore pink and white carnations. Mr. Dynge gave the bride In marriage. Best man for the groom was Robert Bernard Sutton. Preceding the ceremony the Rev. Millard sang "God Made You Mine' 'and with Mrs. Mil lard sang a duct. Mr. and Mrs. Reld will spend several weeks in California ofter which they will return here to make their home. Mrs. Reid graduated from Medford high school with the . class of 1943 while the groom was grad uated . from Talent high school with the class of 1938. He was recently discharged from the navy with the rating of boats wain's mate second class, hav Ing served four and one-half years of which two and one half years was spent In the Pa cific theater. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Langston. 114 Tripp street. The Rev. Delbert W. Daniels of the Christian church per formed the double-ring cere mony. For. the wedding the bride wore a gold colored suit with brown accessories and a corsage of brown orchids. She was at tended by her sister, Mrs. For est Gass, Dunsmuir, Calif. Mrs. Gass wore an oxford grey suit with black accessories and a corsage of white gardenias. Mr. Langston was attended by his brother, Lt. Jack Lang ston of Walla Walla. Wash. A reception followed the ceremony. After the bride and groom had . cut the traditional first slice of wedding cake, the serving was completed by Mrs Earl McQuigg and Mrs. Clar ence Ekland served punch. Thirty guests were present. Comdr. C. R. Nelson, San Francisco, to Denver Elgin Thornton, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E Thornton of Kansas City, Mo. The service was read Friday. February 22, at eight o'clock in the evening by the Rev. D. E. Millard. Miss Nelson's wedding dress was of white net and lace over taffeta designed with a train and worn with a finger-tip length veil. She carried a bou quet of white orchids and steph anotis. Her attendants were Miss Mary Cleland, maid-of-honor, and Miss Jerry Fasil, brides maid. Miss Cleland's gown was of white brocaded net and she carried an old-fashioned bouquet of sweetpeas, carna tions and gardenias, Miss Fasil also wore white net and carried an old-fashioned bouquet. Sgt. Joe Doran was best man for the groom and Donald Vaughn served as usher. Harry Field, uncle of the bride, gave her in marriage. Before the service, attended by about 30 friends and rela tives, the Rev. Millard sang 'God Made You Mine" and "Be cause" and Mrs. Millard played the wedding march. A reception was held at the chapel, with Mrs. Harry Field, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. E. R. Thornton, grandmother of the groom, serving the wedding cake after the first slice had been cut by the bride and groom. The groom's mother served punch and Mrs. Donald Vaughn served . coffee. Traveling to Medford for the wedding were the groom's par ents and his grandmother, Mrs. E. R. Thornton, who came from Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Glasscock of Dunsmuir, Calif., cousins of the bride, and Wil lard Reed, uncle of the bride. The bride and groom will re side in Kansas City. Mo., at 703 71st Terrace after March 1. The groom was recently discharged from the army engineers' corps where he had served for three years, six months being spent in the European theater. The bride has resided in Medford for the past year and attended Medford high school. Academy Parents Announce Carnival St. Mary's Academy Parents' club members are making plans for a carnival'; to be given Fri day' of this week at the parish hall of Sacred Heart' Catholic church. The affair is being giv en to raise funds for academy equipment and has been set for eight o'clock.
