Newspaper Page TextDAIRYMAN ASKS ' AID IN KEEPING i "KIDS" ON FARM Washington, Feb. 20 (U.R) A dairy farmer asked congress today for prices high enough to et him "give the kid the old car and 50 cents, and let him go iparkin'." He and other milk producers from the west, central and east ern parts of the country told the house special food committee that their children were leaving the farms and -not coming back because present prices don't give them a decent standard of living. The dairymen said they had to have more money for their milk if they are to stay in business. The committee, which is study ing the butter shortage in par ticular and the dairy situation in general, listened sympathetic ally. Can't Gat Help Henry Haag, director of the Dairy Cooperative Association of Portland, Ore., said he couldn't get hired help on his own farm even at wages as high Vl as at $175 a month. . ..It T If- J 1 H ' wife," he told the committee, "are taking turns helping out in the barn while I'm here because we can't get help.
