Bagley, former Gilmore Oil Co. manager here and now with the same company in Portland, is visiting friends here over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Bagley moved to Portland about a year ago. ... Visitors Here Mr. and Mrs, Ray Gammon of Denver, Colo., arrived in Medford yesterday for a short visit at the home of Mr, and Mrs. V. L. Bailey, GeBauer apartments. Mrs. Bailey is the sister of Mr. Gammon. The Bai ley's son, Don, left yesterday for his home in Spokane after a week s visit with his parents. McQuat Promoted Paul C, Quat, stationed with the 20th air force on Guam, has been pro moted from first lieutenant to the rank of captain, according to word received by the officer's wife, Beverly, who is residing with her 'parents, Mr. and Mrs W. P. Brooks, 335 South River side avenue. Capt. McQuat has been stationed overseas since August. To Initiate Initiation will be held by Talisman Lodge No. 31 Knights of Pythias, Monday at a meeting set for 8 p. m. in the lodge hall, with the Knight rank to be conferred. Visitors are ex pected from Klamath Falls and Grants Pass according to Harry Bryant, chancellor commander, and he urges all local members to attend. The evening will close with refreshments. Affleck Home Charles A. Af fleck returned home Tuesday fol lowing an honorable discharge from the navy at Shoemaker, Calif., after over two years serv ice, including a year in the Pa cific theater. An electrician's mate, third class, Affleck re ceived service ribbons for the Asiatic-Pacific theater, Philip pine liberation, and American area and the victory medal. He is residing with his wife and daughter at the family home at 108 South Grape street. Returns Robert L. Stacy, son of Mrs. Florence Stacy and the late Dean Stacy, returned to Medford recently following dis charge at Ft. Lewis after 26 months in the service. Stacy took his training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and was sent overseas with an anti-tank company shortly after his 18th birthday. He saw action on Omaha beachhead In Normandy. Stacy served with the third army, was wounded In action and was later taken pris oner. Four battle stars, the pur ple heart, good conduct, Ameri can theater and European thea ter medals, a combat infantry man's badge were awarded him. Stacy will enter Oregon State college next fall for forestry training. He Is residing at 725 Clark street. The or ganization is engaged in Bible teaching in the public schools Major business of the meeting will be election of officers for the ensuing year, committee re ports and consideration of the teaching staff. During this school year 21 churches and affiliated organiza tions have sponsored Bible teach ing in the four elementary schools in Medford, at the How ard school, and also In (he fourth, fifth and sixth grades of the Central Point system. .In the Medford system, activity periods havo been opened in the fourth, fifth and sixth with 490 pupils enrolled. At the Howard school, all but two or three chil dren are in the classes. All but the first and second grades are in the set-up there. Ninety-nine per cent are enrolled in Cen tral Point grade school.
