Jordan, spent yesterday In Crescent City, Calif., where they visited with relatives. Mr. Jordan is spending a few weeks in the valley from his home in Los Angeles. Couple Arrives Mr. and Mrs F. A. Shinn of Boise, Idaho, ar rived here Thursday to make their permanent homt in this city. Shinn, connected with the U. S. Reclamation Service in Idaho, will assume a post with the reclamation service here. He is a navy veteran. From Portland Ray Bilder back arrived in the city yester day from Portland, where he is attending Multnomah college, and is visiting until Tuesday with his mother, Mrs. Alice H. Bil derback, 515 South Grape street, with his father, L. M. Bilder back, Merrick apartments, and at the home of his aunt and imcle, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heren deen, 528 Haven street. Bilder back was graduated from Med ford high school in 1943 and Is majoring in chemistry at the Portland school. SAT. Thefts Reported HawthornCT bicycles belonging to Bui Dai'y 256 Beatty street, and Alice White, 1130 Saling avenue, were stolen yesterday, it was reported to city police today. Daily's bike, license No. 65, was taken from a local theater and the bi cycle belonging to Miss White was reported stolen from the junior high school. Also re ported last night was the theft of two hub caps from a car be longing to Charles Overmyer, 610 ' South Holly street, which was parked on West Main street. American Wheat Will Feed Japs Tokyo, Feb. 15 (U.R) Allied headquarters today authorized the delivery of 2,000,000 pounds of American wheat and flour to the Japanese government to re lieve .shortages in Japan. The economic and scientific section of supreme headquarters said the flour was surplus army stores and part of a 5,000,000 pound supply shipped to Tokyo from Manila for Japanese consumption. Foresters Society To Hear Nettleton At Meeting Tonight Harry Nettleton, forester in charge of research and Informa tion, attached to the Portland office of the O and C Lands ad ministration, will speak tonight at the regular meeting of the Shasta-Cascade sub-section of the Society of American Forest ers, which Is to begin with a dinner at 6:30 o'clock in the blue room of the Holland hotel. Mr. Nettleton will speak on O and C lands in connection with the sustained yield program and a general discussion is to follow. Foresters from southwestern Oregon and the Mt. Shasta area of northern California, along with all local foresters and in vited guests, are to attend. - 33 Initiated By Elks At Ashland Ashland, Feb. 15 With more than 250 members in atten dance, Ashland Lodge No. 944, B. P. O. E., initiated S3 new members into the lodge at din ner meeting of the organization Wednesday. This was one of the largest classes In recent years, it was announced. Mel Plaskett, Exalted Ruler from Medford, was guest speak er for the evening. He welcom ed the new members into the lodge. Last Rites Held For Mrs. Bailey Services for Mrs. Margaret C. Bailey, wife of Elm O. Bailey, route 1, Central Point, were held in the Conger-Morris chapel at 1:30 p. m. today with the Rev. W. A. Dawes officiating. She passed away in a local hospital Sunday following. an illness of several months. Interment was in Siskiyou Memorial Park. AIR FORCE DOWN TO 400,000 BY JULY 1 Washington. Feb. 15 (U.R) The army air forces will dis charge approximately 500,000 of ficers and enlisted men and wom en within the next 4V4 months, which will leave an air force o.' approximately 400,000 men next July 1, the war department an nounced today. Of those to be discharged, ap proximately 185,000 were In the United States on February 1. JAPS PARADE . Tokyo, Feb. 15 (U.R) Staffing what was described as the big gest labor demonstration thus far seen in Tokyo, 20,000 em ployes of the Kanto area govern ment railways today paraded through downtown streets to th transportation ministry where they presented demands for In creased pay and better treatment. VALENTINE TO VALENTINES Santa Ana, Calif., Feb. 15 (U.R) An eight pound, one ounce valentine was delivered yester day to Mrs. Maurice Valentine at St. Joseph's hospital here. Experiment Bomb Will Be Dropped From Navy Plane San Diego, Feb. 15 (U.R) The atomic bomb which will be used in the navy's May experi ment will be dropped from a naval fighter plane flying from the 28.000-ton aircraft carrier Shangri-La, the San Diego Journ al said today in a copyrighted article. The Journal said the Shangri La has been conducting experi ments up and down the coast for more than a month. The fighter will be a Grumann F6F, with specially constructed bombing equipment, the Journal said. The Journal said it also learned that the control ship El Dorado will be used as the com mand vessel for the atomic bomb tests in the Marshall Islands, Tornado Damages Oklahoma Town Ardmore, Okla., Feb. 15 (U.R) Oklahoma highway patrol offi cers .today estimated at more than $200,000 damage from a tornado which struck Ardmore early yesterday, destroying 30 homes and injuring 16 persons. One of the injured, Frank Bell. 85, was reported In critical con dition, but other victims were Friday.
