Serving on the committee in charge of arrangements were Mrs. Dean Brooks, general chair man, Mrs. John W. Horsley, Mrs . Virgil Lancaster, Mrs. Franklin Balch, Mrs. Walter Krucgcr, 1 Mrs. Thomas Fisher, Mrs. C. D Hazel and Mrs. William Lewis. Hostesses at the bridge tables were Mrs. O. L. Overmeyer, Mrs. C. Fab. 3. 1948 and Club: I Miss Towndrow Becomss Bride In Chapel Rites An event of last week was the wedding of Miss Mildred Virginia Towndrow, daughter of Mr. end Mrs. George Towndrow, 1035 West Tenth street, to James Leftrr Wordcn. The groom Is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wor dcn, Medford-Jacksonville Star Route. The wedding took place Wed nesday, January 30, at the Cha pel of the Rocks and Roses, with the Rev. D. E. Millard per forming the ceremony at eight o'clock in the evening. ' Miss Towndrow's wedding cos tume was a pale blue suit with which she wore white accessories and a corsa'jo of gardenias and roses. Miss Betty C'urman, maid- of-honor, wore a gray suit with red accessories and a corsage of white carnations, Weston A. Worden, brother of the groom, was best man. Boforo the service the fiev. Millard sang "Always' and with Mrs. Millard sang "Moonlight and Roses.1 Twenty guests were present. Mr. and Mrs. ' Worden will make their home in Medford. The bride has been on the staff of the Vestern Thrift store here In recent months while the groom was recently discharged from the army alter two and one-half years with the Fifteenth air force in the African-Italian theater of operations. Both arc graduates of Medford senior high school. Mcny Candidates To Be Initiated A large class of candidates will be initiated at a meeting of Crater Lake auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, set for Tues day, Feb. 5, at the Medford ar mory at 8 p. in. Refreshments will be served after the meeting to post and auxiliary members by a committee headed by Mary DeBerry, social chairman. Any mother, wife, sister or daughter of a veteran who has seen service In the United Stales armed forces on foreign soil or in hostile waters Is eligible to join the auxiliary and should contact Mary Schulz, 054 South Holly street, membership chalr-man. Couples Entertain At Dinner Parties; Visitor Honored A numb;r of dinner and cock tail parties have been given In recent daya to enliven the post holiday season. Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Norris entertained last Saturday evening, guests being invited to the Lageson heme, 34 Glen Oak court, for cocktails, and the Nor ris home on Hlllcrest road (or dinner. Thirty guests attended. Last evening Mr. and Mrs. Justin Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jackson were hosts for a similar affair, with cocktails served at the Smith home on Geneva' street and dinner and bridge following at the Jackson home, 1917 East Main street. Also entertaining last evening were Mr. tnd Mrs. Frank Far rell, who invited guests to their home on East Main street for cocktails and supper. The affair honored Mrs. Mildred Paige Davis, Beverly Hills, Calif., who Is spending a few days In Med ford as a guest of the Farrells. The groom re turned recently from five years, nine months service with the ma rine corps in the Pacific where he was a prisoner of the Japa nese for 39 months. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder plan to make their home In Toledo. Birthday Party Given By Club Jolly Stitchers' club held the first of a series of birthday par ties at the home of Mrs. Helen Ford, 339 South Central avenue, Wednesday afternoon. The first party honored Mrs. Jessie SIurr and Mrs. Hollars and gifts were exchanged. Mrs. Laura West of Post Falls. Mrs. Atkins Is a member of Pyramid Temple No. 10 of Davenport. Wednesday after noon Mrs. Atkins will attend a Nile cere monial set for two o'clock at the Medford Masonic temple. Mrs. Harry Nordwlck, Zuleima Temple queen, will preside over the ceremonial and the uniform ed patrol, of which Mrs. Eugene Orr Is captain, will do escort duty. A chorus of voices from Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass, under the leadership of Mrs Howard Bush, will assist in the cer -monial. The committee In charge of arrangements is made up of the Mcsdamcs Frances Flynn, Har ry Barneburg, Darrell Huson. Paul Rynning, Oscar Anderson, Claude Holmes and Lyle P. Wil cox. A buffet supper will be served by members of Grace circle of the Presbyterian church, this to be at the temple at six o'clock following the ceremonial. Hostesses assisting in the ban quet room will be Mrs. William A. Young, hostess for the year, assisted by Mrs. Maude Holmes, Mrs. David Roberts, Mrs. O. O. Horner, Mrs. William H. Holt and Mrs. A. C Leighton. Gardeners Plan Program On Birds Discussion of birds will fea ture the morning laboratory ses sion of the Medford Garden club Thursday at 9:30 a. m. with Mrs. R. T. Nichol and Mrs. Howard Bush in charge. A display of feeders, houses, seeds, scrap books and other pertinent ma terial is being planned. It is stated that the usual laboratory charge will be waived for this meeting. Planning for spring gardens will be the afternoon topic, with Mrs. C. C. Sater leading discus sion.
