LOCAL and Marriage License A marriage license was issued Thursday at the county clrk'i office in Josephine county at Grants Pass to James C. Euckmaster, 51, and Perl H. Carroll of Trail is one of the 1,200 high point army veterans being returned to the states for discharge aboard the USS Tak anis Bay, according to a dispatch from fleet headquarters at Pearl Harbor. Unit To Meet Evans Valley Home Extension unit will meet Jan. 17 at -the home of Mrs. Ninefelt. Rawley, Theodore L. Taylor and Ralph V. Zumwalt. Auto Mishaps Considerable damage was caused a car operat ed by Cleo O. Mayfield, 22 Rose avenue, Friday night when it struck the curbing and sign post at. the Oakdale avenue and Sec ond street intersection, accord ing to an accident report at city police headquarters. Mayfield's auto was forced off the street to avoid an oncoming car, the re port said. Also damaged Friday evening when they collided at Main and Holly streets were cars driven by B. F. H. Hedrick, city school superintendent. DeVere, who is now eligible for discharge, en tered the army about three years ago. Committee Omitted In list ing the schedule for the Regional Girl Scout program advisor, Miss Dorothy Calnin, the meet ing of the organization commit tee for Thursday afternoon was inadvertently omitted. Mrs. M N. Hogan is chairman of this committee, and committee mem bers are the Mesdames Allen Smith, Dee Newton, Walter Johnson, J. P. Naumes, Dwight Findley and Robert Sleeter. This committee is responsible for se curing adult leadership for all groups in Girl Scouting. Thorndike Home Bill Thorn dike, former corporal in the In fantry, arrived in Medford Fri day and is with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorndike, Berkeley Way. Young Thorn dike was overseas for 21 months, serving first under Gen. Chas. H. Gerhardt In the 29th Infantry division and for the last few months before returning home was with the military govern ment unit at Weisbaden, Ger many, and assisted at the trials of a number of war criminals. The young man was wounded during one of the battles in Bel gium and was hospitalized for about two months. He plans to re-enter Oregon State college for the spring term. TALENT BEATEN Talent, Jan. 14 Talent high basketball team lost their second straight game Saturday night when they dropped an intersec tional tilt to Myrtle Creek by a 49 to 23 score here.
