Meeker and daughter, Eleanor, 724 East Jackson street, left Friday to spend the holidays in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, Calif. They expect to return to Medford Jan. 1. To Visit Relative! E. S., was honored at a reception given by Adarel chapter No. 3 of the order Sat urday evening at the Masonic Hall m Jacksonville. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gould pre sided. In addition to the guest of honor, other distinguished guests indued Mrs. Alma Cofer, grand representative of Tennes see; Mrs. Adalaide Clary and Herman Mayberry, worthy ma tron and patron of Alpha chap ter, Ashland; Mrs. Ethel Stim son and Orvllle Hamilton worthy matron and patron of Nevita chapter, Central Point, and Ralph Lue of the chapter of Rose Croix. Mrs. Todd and Mrs. Fay i Peters were introduced and wel- I corned and Mrs. Ralph Lue secretary of the chapter, read i letters from grand officers and grand reoresentatives who ; could not attend. A musical program was given with planj solos by Miss Gloria Fair ;two violin numbers by E. C. Root, accompanied by Mrs. Imogene Smith; two vocal numbers by Mrs. Darrel Hu son, accompanied by Mrs, Eva Marsh, and a piano solo by Mrs. Grace Denman. An original skit, written by Mrs. Ina Hu- son and Mrs. Libbie Root, was staged by Mrs. Fay Peters. V. T. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. William Childers, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Conley, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Brill, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bre- wold, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gard ner, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Neil Peterson, accompanied by Mrs. Root. Mrs. Adalaide Clary, Mrs. Ethel Stimoson. Mrs. Grant Todd and Mrs. Fay Peters pour ed. Past matrons were in charge of refreshments and decora tions, and assisted about the dining room. . The affair was well attended by Eastern Star members and their friends from chapters of northern California and south ern Oregon. Auxiliary-Guild Holds Election; Dinner Is Given Mrs. William B. Clcgg was named president of St. Mark's Auxiliary-Guild at the annual election Tuesday during a meet ing at the parish house. Retiring president is Mrs. N. D. Rowe. Mrs. D. O. Hood was elected first vice-president; Mrs. H. Gates, second vice-president; Mrs. Victor Morgan, secretary, and Mrs. Aletha Vawter, treas urer. ' Installation of officers will be held at the meeting set for Jan. 8. A Christmas program was presented, with the girls' trio from senior high school singing and other appropriate numbers. Gifts were exchanged. Hostr esses for the meeting were Mrs. H. C. Goldsmith, Mrs. Robert Holmes and Mrs. Nelle Osborne. The Auxiliary-Guild members entertained their husbands and about 25 men from engineers' troops recently arrived at Camp White and navy personnel from the camp hospital at a dinner at the parish house the evening of Dec. 15. The parish had been decorated with a Christmas tree, holiday evergreens and each ta ble held lighted candles and holly. Husbands assisted with serving. The Rev. George R. Turney led community singing, with Mrs. Fred Strang at the piano, and John Eads, magician, was presented. Miss Jane Snedlcor and Mrs. Martin Sands made up the dec orations' committee and on the dinner committee were Mrs. N. D. Annual Parties Held Last Week By Local Lodges Odd Fellows and Rebekahs en tertained with the annual Christ mas party for children of mem bers Thursday night, with Roger Cram and Florence Klatt serving as co-chairmen. Little Jerry Ivle, aged two years, gave a welcoming speech and A. J. Hanby delivered the invocation. Carol Davis pre sented an accordion number, Katherine Gott gave two piano numbers and Jeanne Klatt a reading. Accordion solos were also presented by Denny Bate man. Maxine Powell, Reta Rogers, Carol Davis, Joan Anderson, Marian Dorf, Edna Keoler and Barbara Vance gave group ac cordion number and also played for carol singing. Santa visited the hall and pre sented each child with a Christ mas treat. A Christmas tree and the traditional greenery de corated the hall. Olive Rebekah lodge held the annual yulctide party Monday, with Ina Huson and a committee planning the program. A Rebe kah chorus sang carols, Laura Wicker and Ethel Pease read a Christmas story and Marian Ward also gave a reading. Ethyl Weed gave the story of the first Christmas tree in America. In the chorus were Mary Cave, Lucile Cave, Julia Greg ory, Ethyl Weed, Laura Wicker, Leah Ivie, Bessie Hubler and Ella Gould. Gifts were exchanged and a committee headed by Julia Greg ory served refreshments. Farewell Party Honors Couple; Leave for South Mr. and Mrs. William Meyst, Jr., who have left Medford to make their home in Vlsalia, Calif., were honored at a fare well party the evening of Dec. 15. Hnsts were Mr. and Mrs. Victor llilncs and Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Bouck, the affair being at the Bouck home, 21 Portland avenue. Guests, in addition to the Meysts. were Mr. and Mrs. C. Lyall Fidler, Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Spanler and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphrey. Buffet sup per was served at midnight. Mr. Meyst, on the staff here of the McCoy Machinery com pany, will be general manager of the Tulare County Tractor company at Visalia. He was a member of the Medford Klwanis club, Junior Chamber of Com merce and Sheriff's Posse, while Mrs. Meyst was active in the Lady JayCee group. Methodist Class Holds Yule Party In Central Point Homemakers' class of the Methodist church held the an nual Christmas party recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kihn, Central Point. Following an entertaining evening of games there was an exchange of gifts and refreshments were served. Attending were Dr. and Mrs. ,ouis C. Kirby, Mr. and Mrs. John Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jones, Mr. and Mrs. F. K. Waters, Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Homemakers' class, a group of young adult homemakers, ex tends an invitation to all former members and any new couples or persons in this ago group to attend the class and join in the social life of the church. Chapter Observes Christmas Season At Recent Party The Christmas season was ob served by Crater Lake chapter. Daughters of the American Revolution, at a meeting held i Dec. 15 at the home of Mrs. T. J. Gifford, 425 South Oakdale avenue. Mrs. Marie Hansen read a Christmas message from May E. Talmadge, president general of the group, and Miss Sara Van Meter presented Mrs. Kather ine Beaugher, Bible teacher of the public schools, who read the Christmas story. Mrs. Beaugh er's program was illustrated with colored slides and inter spersed with Christmas carols. The annual exchange of gifts followed and Mrs. Gifford, Sunday. Mrs. Herbert To Spent Holidays In Tho Dalle Mrs. Rose Herbert, 204 North Ivy street, left Monday for Tha Dalles, Ore., to spend the Christ mas holidays with her son, E. V. Herbert and family.
