MEXIGANlTRIKE TIES UP RAILWAY Nogales, Sonora, Mex., Dec. 11 (U.R) Mexican troops were to be assigned today to prevent what Gen. Jose F. Botello called "further railroad sabotage" which tied up Southern Pacific of Mexico trains for 34 hours in a union dispute. Gen. Botello, commandant of the Nogales military garrison, last night arrested 12 men, the crews of two trains, and an nounced he would order troops to see that trains got through. Those arrested were members of the Brotherhood of Trainmen and Oilers, an organization! claiming 28,000 Mexican railroad workers, which is striking against attempted control by the government-backed Syndicate of Railroad Workers of the Repub lic of Mexico, claiming 80,000 workers. The result Is that America has built up tremen dous buying power. Lots oj buying power and little to buy make s dangerous combination like chemicals that ex plode when put together. When people need things badly and have plenty of money, they are apt to pay too much for what they need. INFLATION then begios! It's a dangerous mixture shortage 0 goods and plenty oj money. The answer to high prices and inflation is plenty of goods. America's factories should be working day and night to turn out the things people need to bal ance needs with goods. Instead what do we hare? A demand by UAV. CIO leaders for a 30 per cent wage increase. More than that, a strike which has closed down General Motors plants. Both are inflationary. Both make the mixture still more dangerous. GENERAL MOTOIIS "More and Better Things for More People" part in the experiment. One of the nation's leading sci entists, Dr. Irving Langmuir, as sociate director of research for the General Electric Co., believes there should be periodic demon strations of the atom bomb so the world will never forget what it can do. He believes that will do much for the cause of world peace. As for the big test itself, the questions of when and where it will be held, what and how many vessels will be used and what types of explosions will be un corked are still without official answers.
