Herman Ashland Of interest to many friends in the valley will be the news of the wedding of Miss Margaret Whittle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. David Whittle, 123 High street, to Price M. Hen nan, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Price M. Hennan of Albuquer que, New Mexico. The double ring service took place Tuesday afternoon, November 27, at 3 o'clock at Trinity Episcopal church in Ashland and was read by the rector, Father A. II. Mac-Donncll. The bride wore a blue-grey crepe afternoon dress with black accessories and carried a bou quet of gardenias and pink car nations. Her maid-of-honor, Miss Clara Ann Roberson, wore pink with a corsage of pink rosebuds. Joe Burdic was best man for the groom. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Whittle wore a lime green dress with a corsage of bronze chrysn.ithcmums. Present for the service were members of the family and a few close friends, including Miss Betty Whittle, sister of the bride, El wood B. Iledberg, Mr, and Mrs. Karl P. Nims and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Applewhite. Mr. and Mrs. Hennan mude a wadding trip to the northern part of the state and expect to return this week-end to spend a few days In the valley before leaving for New Mexico. The bride graduated from Ashland high school in 1042 und later attended Oregon State col lege where she was affiliated with Alpha XI Delta sorority. For tho past two and one-half years she lias been on the staff of the county clerk's office here In Medford. The groom, dis charged lust week from the army, served as a first sergeont with the 104th Evacuation Hos pital unit, attached to the Third army In Kurope, for nearly two years and holds the Legion of Merit medal for service in Ger many. He was stationed with that group at Camp White for several months before going overseas. Three Newcomers Honored Guests At Social Events Three newcomers to tho city havo been complimented at a series of social events given during the past two weeks by Mrs, V. J, Robinson, who en tertained at her home, 31 Geneva street. Mrs. Robinson was hostess for three luncheons and a tea which honored Mrs. Alfred Potter, Mrs. Richard Armond and Mrs. Lyman Robin son, the latter two being nieces of Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Potter came to Medford from Portland, Mrs. Armond, who formerly lived In Great Falls, Mont., came here from Bremerton where she and her husband resided during the war, and Mrs, Robinson came to Med ford from Colorado whore she spent the war months with her parents while her husband was in service. Mrs. John Wilkinson assisted Mrs. Robinson for the luncheons and at the tea, given last Satur day afternoon. Mordoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Mordoff of this city. Tho rites took place at a candlelight service at four o'clock, with the Rev. I.ouis C Kirby reading the double-ring service in a setting of white and pale yellow chrysanthemums and white tapers. Miss Katnerine Centner was at the organ for the wedding marches and George Maddox sang "Yours Is My Heart Alone", "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer," with Mrs. Mad dox accompanying. Miss Littles wedding gown was of sheer marquisette and lace and her fingertip length veil fell from a halo type head dress. She carried a white prayer book with white or chids. Mrs. Fenton Mell,. River side, Calif., was matron-of-hon-or. She wore a blue taffe'.a gown with a Juliette cap o. the same material and carried a small yellow bouquet of chrys anthemums and Talisban rose buds. Flower girls were Anita Marcy, niece of the bride from Riverside, and Jnnet Jerry, Med ford, daughter of Mr. anu Mrs. Allan Perry und niece of the groom. They wore floor-length white taffeta gowns and carried baskets of rose petals'. Best man for the groom was Richard lloenig of Berkeley. Calif., and Lt. Joseph Duprcz of Brawley, Calif., was usher. The reception which fo '.owed was at the home of Mrs. J. A. Perry, 604 West Main street. The table from which the wedding cake was served was arranged v ith white rosebuds and crystal candlesticks with white tapers and the rooms of the Perry home had been decorated with baskets of large chrysanthe mums. Mrs. Richard lloenig com pleted the serving of tl e wed ding cake and Mrs. J. A. Perry and Mrs. Jimmy Hall poured. Following a wedding trip to a California coast resort Mr. and Mrs. Mordoff will reside in Berkeley, Culif., the groom be ing a chemical engineer for the Standard Oil company at the Richmond plant. Before her wedding the bride was a student at the University of California while the groom was graduated from Oregon State college. In Medford for the wedding were the bride's parents and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rundell, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Boyer, Mrs. Lyle Nelson und Mr. nnd Mrs. T. J. Webb, all of Klamath Falls. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Little entertained at a dinner at the Medford Hotel for mem bers of the wedding party, relatives of the bride and groom and tho Rev, and Mrs. Kirby. Choir Members Are Entertained At Kurtz Home Mr, and Mrs. T. M. Kurtz en tertained members of the choir of the First Christian church at a buffet supper and games party at their home, 204 North ivy. Monday evening. Mrs. Otto Uohnert, social chairman for the choir, aided with arrangements. Robert Church was 111 charge of prizes and Miss Jeanne Rice had charge of games. Medford Couples Entertain Friday At Dinner-Dance With approach of the first post-war Christmas holiday sea son, an increasing number of social events are being planned by valley residents. One of the first of these was the formal din ner and dance at which Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Boyle and Mr. and Mrs. Don Newbury entertained Friday evening at Chalkers-on-the-Rogue. The rooms of the lodge and the dining tables had been at tractively decorated with chry santhemums, red-berried green ery and tapers. Thirty couples were bidden to the affair. Sgt. and Mrs. LeRoy Edward Nelson, married last fall at Sacred Heart Catholic church, are making their home at 646 South Holly street. Mrs. Nelson is me former Syaney Brown, aaugnicr or ins late Sheriff Syd I. Brown and Mrs. Anna C. Brown, and the groom, stationed at Camp White, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C, H. Gunter, HOB South Central avenue, and her husband's par cuts, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Grigsby, Sr., Jacksonville. Crater Lake Guild Entertains Choir At Evening Party Presbyterian church choir members were entertained by Crater Lake Guild of the church Monday evening at a 'Long, Long Ago" party which had been planned by Mrs. W. E. Tumy. About 50 persons at tended the enjoyable affair, held at the church. With Mrs. Tumy acting .a mistress of ceremonies, program numbers were presented which called to mind celebrities of past days. Mrs. Sydney Bouck ap peared as Adelina Patti, Mrs Helen Holt Wilson was cast in the role of Mrs. Scott Sidden, dramatic reader, and Miss Deb orah Tremblcy as a piano stud dent of Mozart. Singing of old fashioned songs closed the pro gram. Mrs. Verl Walker, Mrs. Flor ence Erbcs, Mrs. Paul Bulkin and Mrs. Frank Hussong ap peared in costume as head waiter, waitress and chef to help with the serving of re freshments. Much amusement was derived from clever "blind menus", prepared by Mr s. Tumy. Hostesses for the re freshment hour were Mrs. Har ry W. Hansen and Mrs. Vera Humphrey. Decorations for the fireplace room and dining room were in keeping with the theme and in cluded old photographs of some of the persons present. The dining table had been arranged with an old-fashioned red and white tablecloth centered with a bowl of wax fruit. Ceremonial Date Is Announced By Zuleima Temple A large number -of Southern Oregon women will gather in Medford Saturday, Dec. 8, for a ceremonial planned by Zule ima Temple, Daughters of the Nile, which will be held at the; Medford Masonic Temple at 2 p. m. V. Mason, Talent, to Walter Chester Ricks, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chester Ricks, Sr., of Route 3, Medford. Both young people are on the staff of the Pacific Telephone and Telephone company here.
