Main HOMC PEftMANtNT Philadelphia, Pa., Dec. 1 U.R) Army's fabulous football team marched into the halls ol grid iron greatness today when it finished its second consecutive all-victorious season by defeat ing Navy, 32 to 13, before a crowd of 102,000, including Pres ident and Mrs. Truman. It took Blanchard, the great est fullback to roam the coun try's gridirons since Bronko Na gurski's days at Minnesota in the 20's, and the Dreaks of the game to make this climatic classic a triumph for the West Pointers. Except for those first 15 minutes, Navy was always in the ball game, but when the Middies most needed luck it turned against them. Navy finally had to give away before the power which Blanch ard and his all-American running mate, Glenn Davis, generated be hind a hard charging Army line, but the Midshipmen made a fight of it after that. The game was only three min utes and 38 seconds old when Blanchard plowed over for the first score. He was to go over twice more with his touchdown twin, Davis, accounting for the other Army tallies. Navy's Jim Carrington kicked off short to Tucker, who took the ball on his 25 and ran it j back to his 44. Then he carried the ball himself on the first play ! and went to Navys 44. Davis ; took a lateral from Tucker to i make it first down on Navy's 24. The first break of the game came at that point. Blanchard on his first shot at Navy's sturdy line was downed after only a two yard gain, but Navy was offside and penalized five yards. Those five yards proved important for it took Blanchard three more tries before Army got another first down on Navy's 13. Then the Middies erred again. Blanchard was stopped after go ing two yards but again the Mid dies were offside and Army hart the ball on Navy's eight. Tucker swept right end to the three and then after picking up two yards in -his first try, Doc went over for the first touchdown. Eight minutes later it was Blanchard who put a clink in the Middies armor again. Bob Kelly former Notre Dame star, got ofi a weak punt that carried only to the Navy 38. Another of those costly penalties set Navy back Tucker, on a quarterback sneak went to the 17. Then the ball went to Blanchard and it was another Army touchdown. Army took a Navy punt on the Navy 49 and on the first play Davis went through right tackle for another touchdown. The game stayed that way un til, with only five seconds left to go in the first half, Navy struck for a score. Taking the Army's klckoff at the start .of the .second half, the Middies started out like they were going places. They took the ball on their 15 and drove to the 42. Then a Smith pass wenl wide of its mark and Blanchard intercepted it on the Navy 45 SAN DIEGO UPSET San D i e e a.
