NAVY 1 1 AWAITS CADETS Clementon, N. J., Nov. 30 U.R) Navy' football team, opti mistic over tomorrow' game with Army, ran through a final signal drill in Philadelphia's Municipal stadium today and then returned to Pine Valley Country club to spend the night. The stadium turf was urm, having been protected by a tar paulin during heavy rains of the past few days, and Navy briskly reeled off its exercises and ball handling practice. West Point, N. Y Nov. 30 U.R) A 38-man Army football squad left today for Philadelphia and it pre-game headquarters for the Navy game. Chief of Staff Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower addressed the Cadet body by telephone last night, and Coach Earl Blaik said he be lieved the talk had put the team in excellent mental condition for its most important game. The Army squad followed the Navy team onto the turf at Municipal stadium today for a final signal drill and limbering up. After the workout. Army returned to the Manufacturer's Country club for its training table and 8 good night's rest. After taking a two weeks lay off in an effort to catch up with the elusive fishes, Al Piche again provides this column with his report on where and where not to seek the best angling. Illinois river has provided the biggest thrill of any stream hereabouts for some time, Piche reports. Some fish when hook ed have broken 60 pound test v cuttyhunk line, some have snap ped leaders and still others have straightened out pre-war hooks. The fish now in the Illinois are Chinook with beginning of the steelhead run starting about Dec. 10 and lasting through January, Rogue river promises soma good angling as soon as tha water recedesi mayb this week-end. Many n w fish cam up stream during ih high water and steelhead fish ing promises to be at its best. Fishing In all tributaries of the Rogue river above Gold Hill closes tonight, including Bear Creek. Duck and goose hunting has been exceptionally good around Klamath Falls during the past few weeks, hunters report, but ammunition is still scarce. John Dunlap of the Domino Ranch at Trail say s h has been snowed under for orders for his English Setters of the PEEKAY BILL strain, writ ten up in this column last month. "But now Med ford isn't going to be in the finals but that didn't stop the oilers they are going to take in the Oregon-Oregon . State game at Eugene Saturday and bowl in Portland Sunday. After what they'd learned in China, they thought they could carve out a place for themselves in the air freight business-not as a regularly scheduled line but as contract haulers. 2 They knew they'd need a lot more topSM, But that didn't discourage them. They pooled the savings they had, drew up their plans and started beating the bush for backers. Eventually they lined up several Los Angeles businessmen to furnish the additional capital on a 50-50 ' ''-the veterans to operate the company. 3 With this (spits! they bought S new, twin-engine Navy -designed "Conestoga" cargo planes from the Surplus Property Board. Then they set up offices at the Long Beach (Cal. Municipal Airport, named their company National Skyway Freight Corp, and started business August!, 1&15 4 Today the "Flying Tiger Line" employs 40 men, 38 of them veterans. Its planes, each with a cargo capacity of lO.CWO pounds, haul anything, from strawberries to penicillin, on a contract basis. Furthermore, they'll pick up freight any time, anywhere in the U.
