Registered Nurse in Charge r DAVIS New York, Nov. 21 U.R) Al (Bummy) Davis, 28, New York welterweight prize fighter, was shot and killed early today In a fight with bandits who held up a Brooklyn bar and grill. Police said the four bandits escaped after the shooting. They were reported to have held up seven taverns between 1:30 and 4:30 a.m. Davis, whose real name was Al Davidorf, attempted to stop the men as they left the tavern to get Into their car, police said. He was shot In the chest and died before he could be given medical aid. Police said Davis was mowed down by a fusillade of shots when he punched one of the bandits In the Jaw. Gibbons, had been dredg ing for gold. Young Gibbons told authorities that he had left his father to return to their cabin about 3:50 p. m., returning to the pond at 4:10 to find his father's hat floating on the water. BREAD MOLD KILLED BY HIGH FREQUENCY New York, Nov. 21 (U.R) The science of electronics chalk ed up another victory today the elimination of bread mould, which has cost American bakers and housewives more than 150, 000,000 pounds of bread every year. Bread mould can now be com pletely eliminated by "broad casting " high frequency elec tronic currents through the wrap ped bread after baking, a 34-year-old food scientist announced. CHILEAN WINS Los Angeles, Nov. 21 (U.R) Arturo Godoy, former South American heavyweight champ pion from Chile, was one step farther along the comeback trail today with a decision over "Knock-Down" Johnny Haynes in the Olympic auditorium. FRANKLIN JUNIOR TO JOIN N. Y. LAW FIRM New York, Nov. 21 (U.R) Lt. Cmdr. Franklin D. Roose velt, Jr., said today that he would join a Manhattan law firm after Dec. 3, and laughing ly side-stepped all questions con cerning his political future. Many observers, however, be lieve that FDR's handsome third son, recently discharged from the navy, is busily plan ning to follow in the footsteps of his famous father. 1500 DISLOYAL NEISI LEAVING FOR JAPAN Washington, Nov. 21 (U.R) The justice department said to day that 1,500 Japanese, the first to be deported since the war, will leave Seattle for Japan nfxt Saturday aboard an army trans port. Skelton said rent control officers told him he would have to give 80 days no tice to one of the tenants. The tenant he chose, he said, owns a house but doesn't want to move back to it.
