to the ring and wanted the

settle with Jones, who has whip

the cleverest matmen ever to
appear here when he faces the
Buckeye Beauty.

when he gets together with
Herb Parks, Canadian champion

(Bummy) Davis, 28, New York
welterweight prize fighter, was
shot and killed early today In a
fight with bandits who held up
a Brooklyn bar and grill.
Police said the four bandits
escaped after the shooting. They
were reported to have held up
seven taverns between 1:30 and
4:30 a.m.
Davis, whose real name was
Al Davidorf, attempted to stop
the men as they left the tavern
to get Into their car, police said.
He was shot In the chest and
died before he could be given
medical aid.
Police said Davis was mowed
down by a fusillade of shots
when he punched one of the
bandits In the Jaw. Davla ap
parently was one of the custo
mers in the tavern.

Miner Drowns In
Pond At O'Brien
Grants Pass, Nov. 21 (U.R)
Francis James Gibbons, 63, of
Stockton, Cal., was drowned
Monday afternoon in a pond on
the Bailey mine property near
O'Brien, where he and his son,
John P. Gibbons, had been dredg
ing for gold. Young Gibbons
told authorities that he had left
his father to return to their
cabin about 3:50 p. m., returning
to the pond at 4:10 to find his
father's hat floating on the
water.

Bread mould can now be com
pletely eliminated by "broad
casting " high frequency elec

ped bread after baking, a 34-year-old
food scientist announced.

Comedian Red Skelton, who
owns three Hollywood apart
ment houses, was looking for a
place to live today because the
OPA wouldn't let him move to
one of them. Skelton said rent
control officers told him he
would have to give 80 days no
tice to one of the tenants. The
tenant he chose, he said, owns a
house but doesn't want to move
back to it.
