Livestock Shipping Association Corporation papers for the new Jackson county livestock shipping association have been filed with the corporation com missioner and have been accept pfl. This association will fill s long felt need In the countv and while no drive for members has been made, an opportunity to join will be given to farmers in the near future. There is no capi tal stock in connect with this association and $1.00 member ship fee is the only requirement. An organization meeting will be held within the next two weeks to put the association In operation. USDA Reassures Egg Producers The government is preparing an egg-buying program to sup port the recently weakened egg market. The department of ag riculture will cany out the gov ernment commitment to support the price of producers eggs. The eEB market has been run ning weak and unsteady par ticularly on undergrade and cur rent receipt eggs probably be cause military buying of frozen eggs has declined sharply. Army cancellations of dried egg con tracts will not mean a whole sale dumDing of frozen eggs on the market, the department de clares. Any frozen eggs, classed as surplus property, will be dis posed of in an orderly manner. The armed forces are still buy ing shell eggs to feed Tj. S. troons in this country and abroad. The 54 cents Is one cent below the record highs recorded in April 1918, December 1944, and January 1945. Seasonal lows in the farmer's share are usually reached in June and July. Beef Slaughter Payments Unaffected Beef production payments to Jackson county producers will not be affected by the recent removal of slaughter quotas on slaughterers. Payments will con tinue to be made on eligible cat tle,' the same as since the pro- eram began last May. The only change is that the prrgram now includes an siaugn- terers. Before it was necessary for the cattle to be sold to "leeallv authorized slaughterer. Under the new plan, there may be cases where it is difficult to verify the name of the slaugh terer. In those instances it may be necessary for the county com mittee to require evidence that no duplicate payment will . be made on the cattle. It still is necessary for pro ducers and feeders to present evidence that the cattle are eligi ble for the payment. The re quirements are that the cattle were owned ana lea ror no. . than 30 days before they were sold for slaughter, that they weighed at least 800 pounds and hrnnffht nt least S14.95 a hun dred, and that they were deliv ered to a slaughterer for slaugh ter within 29 days of the date of sale. R. G. Fowler, County Agent COURT ACTION SEEKS CITY PROPERTY SALE Arthur F. Wells and wife have filed suit against Leona Watson, Thomas Watson, and George Wells and wife, seeking a court order authorizing sale of ii lot on Cottage Street. Arthur F. Wells.' George Wells, and Le ona Watson, brothers and sis ter, ore heirs to the property. The appointment of a referee and determination of the value of the lot is also sought. The complaint sets forth that Leona Watson and Thomas Wat son decline to sell the property, consisting of one lot with a house, and the other a vacant lot. It is also cited local reality 'is now high, with numerous buyers', and now is the time to sell advantagously. Attorney Don R. Newbury appears as counsel for the plaintiff. BROTHERS HELD IN JAIL ON HITCHHIKING CHARGE Harold V. Anderson, Jr., and Donald W. Anderson, brothers, are held in the county jail charg ed with hitchhiking. It is the first time in about ten years a similar charge has been filed lo cally. The sheriff's office re ports the two hold dishonorable discharges from the army and are being held for investigation.
