U Fits any head ihel Only Montgomery Ward s IN COUNTY HELP FOR AGED, NEEDY Routine reports covering the month of August were reviewed at the September meeting of the Jackson County Public Welfare commission held earlier this week. General assistance reports showed that this type of aid to taled $8,007 for 204 persons, in cluding 122 families and 82 single persons. This was some what higher than for the month of July, when general assistance for 219 persons totaled $7 895. In August of 1944 this type of aid for 163 persons totaled $5,762. Old age assistance totaled $30,278 for 856 cases in August as compared to $29,643 for 841 cases In July of 1945 and $26,- 861 for 821 cases In August of 1944. Sixteen children were maintained in foster homes at a cost of $476 during August as compared to 20 children for $730 in July. Aid to dependent children to taled $5,233 for 161 children as compared to $4,059 for 153 chil dren in August of 1944. Blind assistance totaled $573 for 12 cases. This is an addition of one case over the previous month. Boy Scout News Boy Scout Troop 2 has re sumed regular Tuesday night meetings at the Lincoln school gymnasium., At last Tuesday's meeting plans were made fbr troop hikes, troop service pro jects, overnight camping trips, troop entertainment and sports and a court of honor every three months. . Under supervision of Junior Assistnnt Scoutmaster Dick' Hake the troop began plans for' a fair. Presentation of the Gen.' Eisenhower medal earned in the last national paper drive, and some merit badges earned at the scout summer camp were pre sented at Tuesday's meeting. . Mills, national second Junior vice-commander of the D.A.V. auxiliary. Both are from Los Angeles. During their stay here Mr. and Mrs. Licklider have taken their guests to many of the scenic spots of the district, ine two women have also signed two members for Florence chapter No. 42, Los Angeles, the new members being Mrs. Licklider and Mrs. Mina Stewart of Rogue River. En route home the women will visit several auxiliaries in California returning in time for a show at the Sawtelle Veterans' hospital. CAA Seeks Trainees For Duty in Alaska Aeronautical Work Civil Aeronautics Administra tion, through its Seattle office, has announced formation of a class of 45 aircraft communica tor trainees for its Alaska serv ice. Purpose of the training, scheduled to begin in Seattle Oct. 8, is to provide skilled aero nautical communications per sonnel for the Federal Airways System in Alaska. Trainees will be paid approxi mately $175 per month while training and will receive not less than $2900 per year upon comr.letion of the course. Only single persons, 18 to 39, will be accepted, except that a limited number of married couples without dependents will be tak en. Requirements include at least two years of college or cer tain aeronautical or radio ex perience in lieu thereof, and a touch typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
