Davis Named Nebraska Leader At Annual Picnic D. D. Davis of Medford was elected president of the Southern Oregon Nebraska association for the coming year, at the annual picnic meeting of the group in Lithia park at Ashland last Sun, day. Other officers elected were Mrs. M. S. Mallory, Medford, vice president, Mrs. Clayton Wal ker, Medford, secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. W. D. Morgan, Ash land, assistant secretary. Mr. Davis succeeds T. L. O'Harra of Ashland, president this year of the former residents of Nebraska now living in south ern Oregon, and chairman of the picnic Sunday. The dinner serv ed at noon was followed by a program including group singing led by Mrs. Morgan with Phyllis Downing accompanying. Downing and Mr. Davis, Donald Kerr played several accordion numbers and Mrs. Harry Miller and Mrs. Mallory sang "Nebras ka Land." Prizes were given to Mrs. Hill, the eldest lady present, Mr. Jack son Gyger, eldest man, Karen Roasch, youngest person attend ing, and to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Putnum who had the largest family. Next meeting of the associa tion will be held at Helman Baths in Ashland on the second Sunday in August, 1946. Rebekahs Guests At Picnic Monday . Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dyer were hosts to members of Olive Re bekah lodge and their husbands at a covered dish picnic dinner at their home. 29 Myrtle street, last Monday evening. Dinner was served in the yard at 6:30 o'clock by a committee composed of the Mesdames Grace Luman, Nettie Smith and Agnes Furch, and accordion music was furnished by Jim Lurfian. Mrs. John Feilcr gave two readings, and a program of games was conducted by the Mesdames Lillian Peterson, Edith Watson, Margaret Davis, and Emily Conrad. Conklins Hosts At Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. George Conklin, 26 Portland avenue, entertained at a dinner Thursday evening of last week in honor of their son, Virgil, home on leave from the San Diego naval base, and a group of his friends. The navy man returned to California Sun day and vill be assigned. to a hospital for further training. He u'ne nrrnmnanied bv his two younger brothers, who will spend two weeks visiting rela tives in California. Guests at the dinner were Wayne Hite, James Worthing toni Fred Newton, Arthur Dur rell, Howard Lehmann, Edward Conklin, and Richard Conklin. Fidelity Circle Meets on Tuesday Members of the Fidelity circle of the First Methodist church met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. E. Chew, 1404 West Main street. The business meeting, presided over by Mrs. Robert Taylor, in the absence of Mrs. Frank Fangcr, Jr., was pre ceded by a testimony meeting. Miss Gladys Bond had charge of the program, which followed the study of St. Paul's saluta tions and prayer In the first chapter of his letter to the Philip pians. Oakriale avenue, in Medford since last January while the doctor has been stationed at Camp White, plan to leave the city the first of the week for Oakland, Calif., where Capt. Gil lespie will be stationed. The couple originally made their home in New Orleans, La. They have been entertained at several affairs the past few weeks. Francis Family Leaving After Visit In Medford Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Francis and daughter, Joan, plan to leave Medford this week to return to their home in Portland after spending the past two weeks here. Mr. Francis, formerly Jackson county 4-H club agent, has been transacting business, and the Francis' daughter has received medical treatment.
