elected president of the Southern
Oregon Nebraska association for
the coming year, at the annual
picnic meeting of the group in
Lithia park at Ashland last Sun,
day. Other officers elected were
Mrs. M. S. Mallory, Medford,
vice president, Mrs. Clayton Wal
ker, Medford, secretary-treasurer,
and Mrs. W. D. Morgan, Ash
land, assistant secretary.

bekah lodge and their husbands
at a covered dish picnic dinner
at their home. 29 Myrtle street,
last Monday evening.
Dinner was served in the yard
at 6:30 o'clock by a committee
composed of the Mesdames
Grace Luman, Nettie Smith and
Agnes Furch, and accordion
music was furnished by Jim
Lurfian. Mrs. John Feilcr gave
two readings, and a program of
games was conducted by the
Mesdames Lillian Peterson,
Edith Watson, Margaret Davis,
and Emily Conrad.
Conklins Hosts
At Dinner Party
Mr. and Mrs. George Conklin,
26 Portland avenue, entertained
at a dinner Thursday evening of
last week in honor of their son,
Virgil, home on leave from the
San Diego naval base, and a
group of his friends. The navy
man returned to California Sun
day and vill be assigned. to a
hospital for further training. He

younger brothers, who will
spend two weeks visiting rela
tives in California.

Meets on Tuesday
Members of the Fidelity circle
of the First Methodist church
met Tuesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. A. E. Chew, 1404
West Main street. The business
meeting, presided over by Mrs.
Robert Taylor, in the absence of
Mrs. Frank Fangcr, Jr., was pre
ceded by a testimony meeting.
Miss Gladys Bond had charge
of the program, which followed
the study of St. Paul's saluta
tions and prayer In the first
chapter of his letter to the Philip
pians. Assisted by Mrs. Verga Craig
and Mrs. Robert Taylor, the
hostess served refreshments to
19 members and guests.

For New Army Station
Capt. and Mrs. Robert Gilles
pie, who have made their home
at 236 N. Oakriale avenue, in
Medford since last January while
the doctor has been stationed at
Camp White, plan to leave the
city the first of the week for
Oakland, Calif., where Capt. Gil
lespie will be stationed. The
couple originally made their
home in New Orleans, La. They
have been entertained at several
affairs the past few weeks.
Francis Family Leaving
After Visit In Medford
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Francis and
daughter, Joan, plan to leave
Medford this week to return to
their home in Portland after
spending the past two weeks
here. Mr. Francis, formerly
Jackson county 4-H club agent,
has been transacting business,
and the Francis' daughter has
received medical treatment. The
family formerly lived in Med
ford, and several friends have en
tertained In their honor during
their visit.
