Sundaf, Aug. 12. 194S MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE SEVEN JJJMBER CONCERf TO BUILD OFFICE AT 8TH AND FIR Formation of a new business partnership in the Smith-Dynge Lumber company, and beginning of construction of a modern concrete building at the corner of Bth and Fir streets to house the offices of the concern, were announced today by Allen R. Smith. Smith and G. T. (Bud) Dynge, partners in the new com pany, have both -been active in the lumber business in this area for 20 vears. The property has been used recently for truck storage by Ead's Transfer com pany. The new modern building will measure 64 by 100 feet, and will be of reinforced concrete blocks, Smith states. It will house offices of the firm, and miscel laneous items such as finishing lumber and concrete. Lumber yards will be located outside, and Smith says the company plans to construct a roof over the yard later. Completion of the building is expected by Oct. 1. Smith and his brother, Paul A. Smith, since deceased, were owners and operators of fhe Rogue River Lumber company located just across the street from the new site, and which was destroyed by fire in 1932. SUB LAGARTO LOST Washington, Aug. 11 (U.R) The navy today announced loss of the 1525-ton submarine La Garto, presumably in far-eastern waters. Prior to his enlistment in 1941 he was employed by the Rogue River Chevrolet Co.. He has a brother, Delmar, in the army air forces stationed in India where he is an aerial gunnery instructor.
