LOCAL and Knips Promoted Alberta, Knips was recently made a cap- tain in the army nurse corps, according to word received here by her mother, Mrs- W. G. Knips, ! Oak Grove road. Capt. Knips has j been stationed in Hawaii lor the . past four years. Return Mr- and Mrs. E. J. Moss, 518 South Ivy street, re turned last week from a lengthy vacation trip to Detroit. Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In Chicago they visited Mrs. Moss' mother, and in Detroit with Mr- Moss' brother. Fritz is spending a 30 day con valcnscent furlough in the city at the home of his brother, O. R. Fritz and wife, at 23 Glen Oak court. Sgt. Fritz, who is station ed at MeCaw Reneral hospital at Walla Walla, Wash., returned to the U- S. recently from India where he was stationed for 20 months with the air corps. Son Born Local friends have received word of the birth of a son, Keneth Paul, to Lt. and Mrs. Clayton S- Jacobsen of Portland on July 24. Lt. Jacobsen was dis trict manager of the Fuller Brush company here before en tering the army air corps, and the family lived at 1304 Reddy avenue. Lt. and Mrs. Jacobsen have another son, Craig, four years of age. Returns Miss Katherine Gentner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Gentner, 22 Grove land avenue, has returned home from St. Vincent's hospital in Portland where she underwent a major operation performed by ur. i nomas M. Joyce.
