Down ing of Central Point recently graduated from Infantry Com bat Officer Training School at Fort Benning, Ga., according to wnrrl received here. His riarents. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Downing, reside at Central Point. Prior to coming to United States after having been select ed for officer candidate school, Lt. Downing spent a year in the southwest Pacific where he par ticipated in four major cam paigns. He took part in battles at Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Raboul and Munda Airstrip.
