r ASHLANDER DIES IN OKINAWA CAMPAIGN Ashland, June 20 Cpl. Fred Gracey, a resident here for sev eral years prior to his enlist ment in the armed services, lias been reported killed in action on . Okinawa, according to word re cently received by relatives. A younger brother, Evurett, serving in the European theater of operations, was recently awarded the silver star for gal lantry in action. Lacky, 22, of Medford, died May 22 in the 39th General Hospital on Saipan as the result of wounds received in action 'on Okinawa April 20, a wire to his mother, Mrs. Neil Davidson, 1013 Reddy avenue, stated this morning. The soldier had been In ser vice since December of 1941, having been inducted into the army from the National. Guard. He was a student at Harrisburg high school, near Eugene, at the time. Pfc. Lacky was home on furlough in October of 1944. He held the infantry combat award. Mrs. Davidson came to Med ford from Eugene to reside sev eral years ago. What the Girl Scouts Are Doing Day Camp Report In spite of hot weather, attend ance at Girl Scout Day Camp re mains high, with 143 present. Special features for Wednes day's program were a group of Stephen Foster songs, presented by the first 25 girls to register for Day Camp. The following girls received a copy of-Stephen Foster's songs as their special re ward: Misses Geraldine Cox, Kathleen Jones, Billianne Bell, Marjorle Ferris, Kathleen Hicks.
