OKINAWA CAMPAIGN

been reported killed in action on

cently received by relatives.
A younger brother, Evurett,
serving in the European theater
of operations, was recently
awarded the silver star for gal
lantry in action.

PRIVATE LACKY
DIES OF WOUNDS
Pfc. Richard D. Lacky, 22, of
Medford, died May 22 in the 39th
General Hospital on Saipan as
the result of wounds received in
action 'on Okinawa April 20, a
wire to his mother, Mrs. Neil
Davidson, 1013 Reddy avenue,
stated this morning.
The soldier had been In ser
vice since December of 1941,
having been inducted into the
army from the National. Guard.
He was a student at Harrisburg
high school, near Eugene, at the
time. Pfc. Lacky was home on
furlough in October of 1944.
He held the infantry combat
award.
Mrs. Davidson came to Med
ford from Eugene to reside sev
eral years ago.
