SOCIETY and CLUBS Twentieth Reunion Held by Members Of Former Class Members of the former Sur prise Sunday school class of the Methodist church enjoyed the 20th annual reunion Saturday and Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs. Glenn Hale of Eagle Point Mrs. H. Movies of former reunions were shown by Mr. and Mrs Gienger. , t Name Committee For Nomination New Club Heads A nominating committee to select a slate of officers for the coming election was announced at the last meeting of the Med ford Sojourners' club. Mrs. Wade Stuart, president, named Mrs. Zane Kemler, Mrs. Jim Ber nard, Mrs. Phillip Epstein, Mrs. Louis McLaughlin and Mrs. Jack Clark to the committee, with Mrs. Kemler to serve as chair man. Hostesses for the last meeting were Mrs. Don K. Bagley, Mrs. Robert Vogtly and Mrs. Carrey Thompson! Guests at the meet ing were the Mesdames Harry Ecklund, Don Simonson, J. G. Wood and Sue Welsh and pros pective members present were Mrs. H. H. Parsons and Mrs. Fred Wheat. - Mrs. Earl Gardiner and Mrs. Kemler won bridge prizes and Mrs, Frances Simcox and Mrs Henry Krause pinochle prizes. Mrs. Vogtly also won a prize. WHEN ITS Miss Chamberlain Speaks on Poetry For Club Meeting Poetry for children was dis cussed by Miss Grace Chamber lain, Ashland, at the meeting of the College Women's club of the Rogue River valley held June 9 at the Girls' Community club. This was the last meeting before the annual summer adjourn ment. Mrs. Archie Pierce, accom panied by Mrs. George Maddox, gave two groups of songs and lul abies loved by children. At the close of the business meeting the newly elected presi dent, Mrs. B. A. Clark, took the chair. Mrs. H. S. Chirgwln, retiring president, and Mrs. Pierce pour ed during the tea hour. The tea table and the club rooms were attractively arranged with flow ers. Mrs. Glenn Taylor was host ess and Mrs. W. P. Tucker was a social chairman.' , Dance is Planned For Students Of Catholic Academy A formal dance is being plan ned for the evening of June 19 for high school students of St Mary's Academy, the affair to be at the parish hall of Sacred Heart Catholic church. Dancing will be from 8 until 11 o'clock with music by the Accordiana Girls. Mrs. A. Carrarra, chairman In charge of the dance, states that all students of the academy high school are cordially invited to attend. Miss Cox Speaks At Union Meeting Miss Ora Cox presented an in teresting history of flags and the United States flag at a meeting of the Women's Christian Tem perance union held Thursday, Flag Day, at the home of Mrs. B. M. Lininger, 608 South Oak dale avenue. The Rev. W. C. Keele sang a patriotic song, ac companied by Mrs. Aletha Knut son, and the Rev. D. D. Randall gave the devotions. Mrs. Mabel Russell Lowther, Ashland, bi-county president, was a visitor. During the social hour a sur prise birthday party was held for Mrs. Linda Russell, with refresh ments served by Mrs. Edith Cox and a committee. - Donna Sherwood Leaving Monday Miss Donna Sherwood will leave Monday for Long Beach, Calif., to join her mother, Mrs. Virginia Sherwood and sister Elaine, who went to the Call fornia city to reside several months ago. Miss Sherwood re mained in Medford to attend jun ior high school here. As a farewell affair, Miss Sher wood's aunt, Mrs. Stephen Nye, Jr., entertained at a garden sup per party for her Saturday eve ning, inviting a group of her close friends. Picnic is Held At Farley Home Monday Evening , Crater Lake Guild of the Pres byterian church held the annual picnic for members and friends Monday evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Farley, Jacksonville highway. During the evening Miss Deb orah Trembley, secretary of the church, was presented with a shower of kitchen gifts for her new home. Miss Jean Farley, ac companied by Mrs. Roberta Bebb Bebb, sang several songs and group singing was also enjoyed. About 40 enjoyed the pleasant affair. Portland Woman Is Honor Guest For her sister, Mrs. A. E. Thur man of Portland, Miss Jeanette Tjoelker entertained the evening of June 8 at her home, 128 South Holly street. Mrs. Thurman, the former Bertha Tjoelker, and her daughter, Judith Lynn, were in Medford for three weeks, 'eav ing last week-end for their home. Miss Tjoelker's guests enjoy ed an evening of games and re freshments were served. Guests were Mrs. Bill Howard, Mrs. Robert Young, Mrs.. Roy Howe. Mrs. Max Stanton, Mrs. Ray An derson, Miss Mura Mills, Mrs. Emily Groves and Mrs. Thur man. While ifi the valley Mrs. Thurman also visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John J, Tjoel ker of Rogue River. Dinner Celebrates Two Anniversaries Mrs. L. B. Van Gordon and Mrs. N. R. DeWit entertained at a family dinner at the DeWit home, 830 West 12th street, Jun 8 which celebrated the wedding anniversary of their parents, Mr and Mrs. J. O. N. Poling and Mrs. Poling's birthday anniver sary. Another daughter, Miss Gweneth Poling, assisted. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. S H. Young, Vernon Young, Mrs O. W. Higby of Phillipsburg, Kan., who is visiting in Med ford, Miss Judith Van Gordon, Mr; DeWit, Mr. Van Gordon and the guests of honor. Mrs. Young and Mrs. Higby are sisters of Mr. Poling. .
