Mrs. O'Con nor will return to hei home at the end of the week. Promoted Cpl. Robert Hoov er has been promoted as sergeant 4 according to .word received here by his uncle, Earl Hoover, 37 Tripp street. Sgt. Hoover is a tail-gunner on a B-29 stationed in the South Pacific. His parents, Mr and Mrs. Frank Hoover for merly lived at Butte Falls. . To School Mrs. Genevieve Hogan Haller left Saturday for Monmouth, Ore., where she plans to attend the College of Education. Mrs. Haller has been visiting in the valley at the Hogan ranch on the Applegate for the past week. She has been social science teacher at the Vernonia junior high school for the past two years. Man It Sought Walter Fran cis Hulbert, whose last known address was the Grants Pass ho tel, is being sought by members of the Disabled American Vet ' erans. Struck by Train Consider able damage was caused to a truck driven by W. T. Peebles. Central Point, Friday when.it was struck near Eagle Point by a train belonging to the Medford corporation, according to an acci dent report on file today. No re port of injuries was made. Fire Calls Firemen answered two calls yesterday morning. One call was made to the home of C. W. Neal, 512 South Oak dale avenue, when an oil stove became overheated. No damage was reported. Smith and family in NOW OPEN AT LAKE 50 MILES FROM MEDFORD this city, and with other rela tives in Grants Pass and Med ford. They were to leave for their home Saturday Mrs. Ada Dusenberry visited from May 30 to June 5 with her daughter, Mrs. Elsie Mathews and family in Klamath Falls. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Floyd and family of Medford are caring for the Earl Taylor place while Mr. and Mrs. Taylor take a vacation trip to Ontario, Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. H. G Wilson of Medford visited Tuesday with their daughter, Mrs. Norman Gaily and family. Their grand daughter Mildred Gail returned home with them for a short visit. Georgia Lee and Marilyn Brown of Medford are visiting for a month at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Z. Smith. Marine James Dunn and wife visited over the week end with Bob Kenaston and father R L. Kenaston. Marine Dunn recently returned from Iwo Jima. Don Stone, of Portland, a for mer resident of Gold Hill was a visitor here Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wolters of Medford were recent guests of Mrs. Minnie Byerly. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dunn and two children left Friday for Los Angeles to visit relatives Mr. Dunn will receive medical atten tion. Capt. and Mrs. Chas. Annis of Portland visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Z. Smith. Capt. Annis, of the Sea Bees re cently received an honorable discharge after serving overseas in the South Pacific Wm. E. Lucas, MoMM2-c, left Sunday for Shoemaker, Calif. He was accompanied as far as Weed, Calif., by his wife who will visit her grandmother, Mrs. M. h. Cooper. Mrs. Tony Hollmutz and granddaughter Shirley of Swiss holm, Ore , visited over the week end here with Mrs. H. A. Dens more and family, Eddie Martin, ship's cook 3-c of Rogue River visited friends in this, city this week, Mrs. H. A. Densmore and daughter Sandra left Thursday for their home in Myrtle Creek. Mrs. A J. Spence and children Adrian, Douglas and Esther re turned to their home here Sun day. Mrs Spence has been teach ing in Agnes the past school year and Mr. Spence drove to Agnes Saturday after them, returning Sunday, Chas. Gray of Portland, has been visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kell and family. He left the first of the week for Grants Pass where he will be employed in the forest service Butte Falls Butte Falls, June 11. Vaca tion Bible school starts at the grade school, Monday at 9 a. m. and the youngsters are anticipat ing a good time. Two young ladies from Medford will be in charge and a fine program is planned. The community regrets the de parture of Rev. and Mrs. Mac Dougall who have worked faith fully in the church and neighbor hood for the past year. They go to St. Paul, Minn., where Rev. MacDougall will be pastor's as sistant in one of the churches close to his old home. . Sgt. Jess Francis is enjoying a furlough after service with the air corps in Italy. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tungate are enjoying the company of their sons, Bud an,d Herbert who are here on furlough, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tungate and daughter from Portland. Darrel Garman Is visiting his father, Newton Garman, and his sister, Mrs. Wilma Smith. ' Lloyd Albern is visiting his father and friends after return ing from a German prison camp. Patch's veteran Sevnth will serve as occupation armies in the American zone of Germany, the army newspaper Stars and Stripes said today. The 15th Army under Lt. Gen. Leonard Gerow. originally desig nated as the American Army of Occupation, will cease opera tions soon after the official boundaries of the occupation zones have been announced, Stars and Stripes said. Thus the Third and Seventh armies will remain in much of the territory they conquered in southwest Germany. The 15th Army has been operating in the Ruhr and Rhineland, but these areas will be turned over to British and French occupation armies. Stars and Stripes said the American zone would be divided into the districts. The Seventh Armv will control the western district and the Third, the east ern. TOMATOES VS. GUIf Boston (UP.)
